90 Day Fiancé: What To Know About Brandon & Julia’s Town Dinwiddie, VA

Armed with their sweet, romantic relationship overshadowed by an overbearing family, Brandon Gibbs and Julia Trubkina are the star couple of 90 Day Fiancé season eight. The TLC show is currently exploring city girl Julia’s struggle after being replanted into living the farm life with Brandon’s conservative folks. But along with Julia’s experiences at the Hummingbird Acres Farm, 90 Day Fiancé fans also seem to have taken an interest in Brandon’s small town. Here’s everything to know about Dinwiddie, Virginia, where Julia will soon be starting her married life with Brandon and the Gibbs family.

In what looks like TLC’s own version of Paris Hilton’s The Simple Life, Julia, 26, who landed in America with hopes and dreams, saw them shattered at 90 Day Fiancé’s Brandon’s farm. While the go-go dancer from Krasnodar dealt with Brandon’s parent’s asking them to sleep in separate rooms, she also got appointed as an unpaid employee at her new workplace. As Julia found herself taking up the tasks of waking up early and feeding all of Betty and Ron’s animals, certainly the thought of leaving the place crossed her mind. 90 Day Fiancé viewers saw Julia claim that she, a designer, was not used to such a slow life. But while Julia may be dreaming of switching cities with Brandon soon, spoilers suggest the Russian 90 Day Fiancé star is still staying in the same house. With Julia possibly having made Dinwiddie, VA, her permanent home after marriage, surely Brandon’s hometown deserves to be explored by 90 Day Fiancé viewers.

Dinwiddie County was formed in May 1752 from Prince George County. As DiscoverDinwiddie notes, it was named after Robert Dinwiddie, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and served from 1751 to 1758. It is said that Dinwiddie’s earliest inhabitants were the Paleo Indians, prior to 8000 BC, and that it later also raised several militia units that helped fight in the American Revolution. The county seat of Dinwiddie County is said to have numerous recreational, historical, and cultural opportunities, as per VirginiaOrg. Interestingly, Brandon’s home also boasts of more Civil War battlefields than any county, such as Pamplin Historical Park and the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier Petersburg National Battlefield – Five Forks Unit, making it a must-visit for Civil War enthusiasts. Take a look at some of the prettier aspects of this American county below:

While 90 Day Fiancé is primarily interested in showing Brandon and Julia defiling his mother’s hot tub, Dinwiddie is also a hub for those who enjoy adventures of a different kind. The county has several sports one could partake in, including drag race and motocross, and is home to the 500-acre Virginia Motorsports Park and an award-winning Dinwiddie Sports Complex. Other activities in Dinwiddie worth enjoying are skydiving, fishing, bird watching, and canoeing with it’s Appomattox River and 3,100 acre Lake Chesdin. Life is also not as boring as 90 Day Fiancé’s Julia makes one believe on the show, as Dinwiddie has events happening every weekend, including the popular Dinwiddie County Fair, Super Chevy Show, Fun Ford Weekend, Rugged Maniac, and NCAA Baseball Tournaments.

With Julia recently defending Brandon’s family’s dog breeding business, it’s certain that Dinwiddie now must feel like home to the Moscow-based bodybuilder. Seeing how easily multi-talented Julia adapts to different situations and cultures, like her knowledge of Korean, making a home out of her future husband’s farmhouse shouldn’t be too stressful for Julia.

90 Day Fiancé airs Sundays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
