90 Day Fiancé: Tarik and Hazel Reveal the Truth About Abuse Claims

The 90 Day Fiancé alums Tarik Myers and Hazel Cagalitan have faced a lot of scrutiny since their very public breakup, but they have joined the Domenick Nati Show to clear the air. Tarik and Hazel met on an international dating site. After dating online for three months, Tarik flew to the Philippines to meet and propose to Hazel on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. They returned in of 90 Day Fiancé season 8, but their time together in the U.S. wasn’t easy. Hazel wanted to explore her sexuality by introducing a female partner, which Tarik was open to, but her jealousy issues also made it challenging for them to take the next step.

Despite the couple struggling to settle into their new routine or let go of the past, they married by the end of the season and have been together for two years. However, in December 2021, 90 Day Fiancé’s Tarik and Hazel parted ways, which resulted in Hazel claiming Tarik was mentally and emotionally abusive on social media. Tarik was less than thrilled with the separation, but still supported her decision. By New Year’s 2022, the couple reunited, but fans are still curious about their well-being, so they turned to the Domenick Nati Show to reveal the truth behind their situation.

When Domenick asked about physical abuse, Hazel clearly stated Tarik never hit her or was physically abusive. According to Hazel, they had disagreements or arguments like many couples, but after confiding in others, it was they who declared it was abuse. Tarik swiftly jumped in to clarify that “There were Americans who knew she didn’t really understand the severity of what she was saying who influenced her to do that to get a rise out of me.” It wasn’t until 90 Day Fiancé’s Hazel received additional advice that she realized her claims were inaccurate. The couple declared the misunderstanding was attributed to English being her third language.

In the end, Hazel also took responsibility for her actions by stating that adjusting to life in the U.S., especially without her son, can make her “crazy.” She also stated that Tarik may raise his voice, which can make her uncomfortable, but he doesn’t yell. Aside from the clarification of abuse claims, Hazel and Tarik admitted they’re still working on bringing her son to America and will consider having more children after he arrives. Toward the end of the interview, Tarik confirmed he hasn’t spoken to his brother Dean Hashim since the 90 Day Bares All over a year and a half ago.

Their banter on Bares All excited many viewers, but 90 Day Fiancé’s Tarik claimed Dean approached the producers and declared the TLC franchise needed to choose between him or Tarik. As a result, Dean quit and Tarik was released. Despite the challenges Tarik and Hazel  continue to face, the couple is still working on their relationship and is still interested in including a third partner in their relationship. While the interview may not have been as convincing as they’d hoped, 90 Day Fiancé fans are wishing the best for Tarik and Hazel in their future endeavors.
