Washington has a large Ukrainian population, with four of the top 20 communities of Ukrainian-born citizens located in Mike’s state. According to The Washington Post, one of the largest Ukrainian immigrant populations is located in the Seattle region, and Washington has resettled more Ukrainians than any other state in the past 10 years.
While Seattle isn’t exactly next door to Sequim, it’s not that far either, and fans think Mike is wrong to not share that information with Natalie. They question why he doesn’t take her into the city more and try to help her be a part of the Ukrainian community there. If Natalie had friends that she could relate to, she wouldn’t feel so isolated and alone. The fans from Washington emphasize just how rural and remote Sequim is, which is hard for a city-person to get used to.
It all comes down to how much does Mike care about Natalie and making sure she’s happy and comfortable? Fans have doubts about his commitment to his fiancé, and after a recent episode, they think Mike’s more interested in his hairdresser than Natalie.
