If there’s one controversy that rocked the entire 90 Day Fiancé fandom for the whole of 2020, it was the shocking separation of Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee. Although the break-up in itself didn’t come as a surprise for many TLC fans, it was the aftermath of it involving Drascilla’s alleged abuse and Taeyang’s custody claims that were most alarming. But amidst 90 Day Fiancé’s Deavan revealing that Jihoon has not been in touch with her and Taeyang at all for months, the South Korean man is begging his Instagram fans to help him get back his son.
Right after reports of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’s Deavan and Jihoon separating were posted in August 2020, fans started asking themselves and the couple the dreaded question, “why?” It later was revealed that Deavan had been in Utah since May 2020, having left Jihoon behind in Korea in a haste. The mother of two claimed that her estranged husband had done “vile things” which were later said to be claims of Jihoon pulling and ripping out “an entire section” of Drascilla’s hair in anger. However, it was 90 Day Fiancé’s Jihoon who followed it up with an Instagram rant claiming he’d just tried to discipline the child, but the puzzle of Taeyang’s custody still remained in the air. As Jihoon said he was sending gifts to Taeyang in America, Deavan maintained he’d blocked her entire family and was putting them at risk by exposing their postal address. However, some 90 Day Fiancé fans felt compelled to sympathize with the father who was thousands of miles away from his only child.
As news of 90 Day Fiancé’s Deavan trying her best to serve divorce papers to Jihoon and him escaping them is coming out, the South Korean star is making confessions of his own. Using a fan’s help, Jihoon has started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help him collect $50k for Taeyang’s “international custody battle.” The TLC star who was chided for his laziness and unemployment throughout his stint on 90 Day Fiancé now, also claims that he’s working hard himself to get some income. “I’ve chosen the fastest way. Please help me get my son back,” wrote Deavan’s ex, addressing the fundraiser campaign, says SoapDirt.
While Jihoon recently also faced major flack for undergoing various cosmetic procedures and spending money on an expensive motorbike, also explained how he slogs at work to 90 Day Fiancé fans. “My day and 9 o’clock wake up. An eleven o’clock exercise” wrote Jihoon in an Instagram story, and added, “I get to work at one o’clock. I get off work at 1 a.m.” As he focused on proving how he’s working for a strenuous 12-hour shift, Jihoon mentioned that he only gets to go to bed at three o’clock in the morning, followed by “repetition.”
It seems 90 Day Fiancé’s Jihoon is going out of the way to prove that he’s a good dad, especially when Deavan’s new boyfriend Topher Park seems to be gelling along quite well in the family already. Deavan has already referred to Topher as her “hubby” and various photos and videos suggest that Drascilla and Taeyang approve of him too. But would Jihoon collecting enough funds to pay a lawyer to help turn things around in this 90 Day Fiancé relationship gone terribly wrong? A new year and newer controversy have just begun.
