90 Day Fiance: Gwen Admits Yara ‘Proved Her Wrong’ About Green Card

On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? once again, Jovi Dufren’s mother Gwen proved she deserves the ‘best parent’ moniker after demonstrating her willingness to admit when she was wrong and holding her son’s feet to the fire. Like many parents on the show, Gwen was initially suspicious of her now-daughter-in-law Yara, but she’s come to the realization that her first impression was incorrect. Now, Gwen is confident about Yara’s commitment to being a wife and mother, though she’s wondering if Jovi is mature enough to be a husband and father.

In the past, Yara has rejected Gwen’s pushy mothering tips, but lately on the show it seems Yara is more willing to accept Gwen’s help. Jovi and Yara went on a trip to Miami, and Gwen tagged along to look after baby Mylah while the 90 Day Fiancé stars got some much-needed alone time. During that quality time, Jovi somehow convinced Yara to go to a strip club with him. Yara wanted to prove that she is still fun, but the evening went south fast and the couple got into a fight, left the club, and slept in separate hotel rooms that night.

The next morning Gwen was shocked to find out what happened and sympathized with Yara. “That makes me really sad,” she said, “there’s no reason you had to go sit at a strip club if that’s not what you wanted to do.” Once Jovi returned Gwen chastised her son for his behavior the night before. Jovi said, “[Yara] slapped me in the face last night, did she tell you that?” To which his mom replied, “and did you deserve it?” It should be noted that physical violence is never deserved, even when someone is being as bone-headed as Jovi.

It appears that Gwen has had some realizations when it comes to her son and Yara’s relationship. “In the beginning of this 90 days of the whole K1 visa thing, I had many, many doubts about Yara’s intentions,” Gwen commented, “I thought maybe she just wanted to come to America.” However, Gwen’s opinion has changed. “I think [Yara]’s proven me wrong…Now I’m starting to worry that Jovi’s the one that wasn’t ready.” Fans have praised Gwen for making efforts to adopt Yara’s culture, helping out with the baby, and being generally open-minded. Many viewers also appreciate Gwen’s candor and willingness to hold her son accountable for his mistakes.

Jovi and Yara would do well to listen to Gwen’s advice, as she has a wealth of experience and knowledge that could be of great benefit to the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? stars. Gwen advised Yara and her son to talk things out, reminding Yara that she doesn’t have to say yes to everything Jovi suggests, and after Jovi sarcastically commented, “thanks for your amazing advice,” Gwen snapped back, “grow up Jovi.” It’s obvious that Jovi’s capable mom Gwen has no hesitation about sharing her opinion when necessary, and it’s no wonder fans love her.
