90 Day Fiancé star Colt Johnson is once again back in the singles club, and it appears his mother and fellow star Debbie Johnson is a significant factor in his separation from his wife, Vanessa Guerra. The two held no feelings back in the Tell-All on 90 Day: The Single Life season 2, as they spoke about the rift in their union. The pair have only been married for barely two months.
This is not the first time Colt’s mom has had major issues with him over his love and marital life, and it has caused a feud between the mother and son. When Colt joined 90 Day Fiancé season 6, Debbie accompanied him as a way of support while he searched for love. However, fans would come to find out that she was pretty antagonistic of his relationships. Debbie was quite abhorrent of his first marriage to Larissa Lima. When the two called it off, Debbie cheered her son on. Colt found love again in the arms of Jess Hanvey, but Debbie disapproved of the relationship. Colt’s romance with Jess suffered the same fate as his first marriage. However, the TV star did not give up on love, and fans got to see him fall in love with Vanessa Guerra.
Now it seems Debbie is up to her antagonistic ways again in her sons’ third relationship. According to Us Weekly, Colt and Vanessa confirmed their separation in their appearance on the 90 Day: The Single Life season 2 Tell-All, where they let it all out concerning the issues in their marriage. Colt accused his mother of making him “subservient” while stating she wanted him to be at her beck and call. The 36-year-old shared, “I’m upset that you just can’t do anything by yourself. I’m the first person, the first call, the first everything with you…I shouldn’t be bothered with your life. This is your life. It’s not my responsibility.” Debbie left in a feat of anger after her son’s confrontation, and it was at that point that Vanessa, who recently suffered a miscarriage, chipped in that she moved out of their home.
Colt also added that he and Vanessa were “separated,” and Vanessa explained that she was tired of living with Debbie, as she and her spouse moved in with her after they got married. She pointed out that her mother-in-law constantly interfered in their personal lives, and it became incessant at a point. However, what really broke the reality star was after her miscarriage, as the tension with Debbie only intensified. However, Vanessa stated that she would only return to their home if Debbie moved out because she did not “sign up for a part-time husband.”
90 Day Fiancé fans vividly recall that Vanessa was there from the start, even when Colt’s first marriage fell apart. Vanessa showed him support, and in little time, the pair bonded. Their whirlwind romance led to a November 2021 wedding, but it seemed to fizzle out as quickly as it started. While it is glaring that it will take a while for Colt and his mom to fix their rift, he and Vanessa might be willing to fix things once they meet each other halfway.
