The sprawling franchise has introduced many colorful personalities in the past seven years, but many viewers have found Big Ed’s gross and strange behaviors to be unparalleled. Big Ed made his reality television debut on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days alongside his ex Rosemarie Vega. Single mother Rose, who has become beloved within the franchise, established herself as an internet hero for dumping the older man. While Rose has gone on to have a successful YouTube career, many fans are not looking forward to seeing Big Ed return for the new Discovery+ show 90 Day: The Single Life. Big Ed is widely disliked for being grotesque and rude to Rose, who is 31-years his junior, as well as the gross and bizarre ways he behaved on the show and social media. One such example of his off-putting hygienic behavior is the reality star using mayonnaise in his hair to soothe his dyed hair. This bizarre behavior has spawned a viral image this week of the reality star on a Hellman’s mayonnaise bottle.
On February 11, Reddit user u/Azurebluenomad posted to the sub-Reddit r/90dayfianceuncensored sharing a photo of Big Ed on a mayonnaise bottle titled, “Big Ed got his own branded Hellman’s Mayonnaise.” The photo featured a container of limited edition Hellman’s mayonnaise with the text “Mayonnaise and Hair Spread,” featuring a photo of Big Ed underneath with the claim “Makes Hair 60% Smoother.” Fans immediately went wild for the extremely well-edited post that appeared to be a real product, as they worked to undercover if it was truly a real item being offered. “If this is real, I’m switching to Duke’s,” one of the post’s top comments reads, as users have been in an uproar over the thought of the product being real. “I really really hope it’s photoshopped,” another user commented, as many pledged to stop using Hellman’s mayonnaise if Big Ed really had his own limited edition bottle.
Is the bottle real? Fans did some deep digging, and there is no sign that Big Ed actually has his own mayonnaise. However, the joke was appreciated by many fans of the show who were startled to see him using the condiment as a conditioner. One Reddit user provided an update to fellow users questioning the validity of the product. “UPDATE: After googling a few combinations of this monstrosity I don’t believe it is real,” the user wrote. “I am inclined to think that Big Eddo did them himself… but he doesn’t have the technology or the steady hand to pull off a procedure like that, so HA!” Many fans were relieved that Big Ed was not receiving more recognition, though they were quick to run with the joke. “Big Ed’s Mayonnaise: “For those special times when you want to smell like moldering egg salad”. Though many viewers are sick of seeing Big Ed, he will be returning for the new 90 Day Fiancé content on Discovery+, even if many viewers aren’t fans of the new streaming service. Meanwhile, Rose continues to thrive as a happy and glowing influencer, much to the pleasure of her fans.
