90 Day Fiancé’s Julia Trubkina recently admitted she’s facing deportation. The Russian beauty made headlines earlier this week when she explained she wasn’t able to submit the necessary documentation to renew her Green Card in time. However, Trubkina insisted she is quickly attempting to remedy the situation and avoid having to leave America.
Viewers first met Julia on season 8 of 90 Day Fiancé when she moved from Russia to Dinwiddie, Virginia, to be with her fiancé, farmer and pest control expert, Brandon Gibbs. The couple married and later appeared together on the sixth season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? where they navigated their relationship with Brandon’s parents, career goals, and a pregnancy scare. Fan favorite Trubkina may live her life in the spotlight, but she is forever exploring new hobbies and interests, so there’s always something fascinating to learn about her.
She Has A Strained Relationship With Brandon’s Parents
When Julia first moved to the U.S., she lived with Brandon and his parents on their makeshift farm. Julia immediately found it difficult to share space with Brandon’s mother, Betty. Betty would cry every time the couple threatened to move out, pitting Brandon and his father against Julia in many instances.
Betty forbade the couple from sleeping in the same room together, secretly called the doctor to make Julia a birth control appointment, expected her to be a farm hand, and even memorably argued against the couple’s meaningful wedding date as it fell on Mother’s Day. Julia and Brandon had many memorable fights on 90 Day Fiance, the bulk of which had to do with their living arrangement on the farm. Brandon may have grown up in the small town of Dinwiddie, Virginia, which is home to less than 4,000 residents, but Julia is used to the big city.
Julia is from the large city of Krasnodar, Russia. Krasnodar, which sits along the Black Sea, boasts a population of almost 1 million people and is an economic center for the region and known for its nightlife and tourism. Julia has been very vocal about the fact that she prefers big cities and does not enjoy living on the farm. She’s even pushed Brandon to move to Florida and has joked about moving to Las Vegas.
She & Brandon Met In An Unexpected Way
Brandon’s parents signed him up for a dating app exclusively for farmers. However, much to his mother’s dismay, before he could use the app, he met non-farmer, Julia, in a completely unexpected way.
Brandon’s best friend was visiting a club in Russia, where Julia was working as a go-go dancer. His friend immediately thought she’d be a good match for Brandon and video chatted him from the club. Julia and Brandon continued to get to know each other after their initial conversation, with Brandon eventually flying to Russia to meet her in person. In one of the best 90 Day proposals, Brandon popped the question while they vacationed in Iceland.
Julia Has Explored Many Career Paths
Julia received criticism for not wanting to work on the farm. However, she has made it clear she has no aversion to hard work. In fact, in an Instagram post, she admitted she’s been employed since she was 13 years old.
Julia was a go-go dancer when she first met Brandon, but she’s had nearly 20 jobs over the years. She’s been a fitness instructor, a dance teacher, a party planner, a competition bodybuilder, a salesperson, an administrative assistant, a waitress and a writer, among other positions. Since moving to the U.S.m she’s switched careers a few times, as well. She’s explored stand-up comedy, modeling, design work, and most recently, dog training.
Her Favorite Movie Is A Disney Classic
Julia has a special place in her heart for the Disney film, The Lion King. She regularly shows off her collection of Lion King-themed merch and Julia even sketched a Lion King tattoo, which she teased might be her next piece.
If Julia goes through with her tattoo plan, she won’t be the only series star with Disney ink. Fellow alum, Erika Owens, is one of many 90 Day stars with incredible tattoos and she has a large image of Ariel on her torso from The Little Mermaid, as well as one of Mulan, among others. Julia is such a superfan that she even named her German Shepherds Simba and Nala, after the movie’s characters. The reality star’s Instagram profile picture is a Disney-inspired image of cartoon Julia with lioness, Nala.
She’s A Dog Person
Julia and Brandon have recently grown their family. The couple welcomed two German Shepherds, Simba and Nala, into their lives, once again hearkening back to her love for The Lion King. Julia credits her time on the farm with helping her to realize her affinity for dogs.
In a recent Instagram reel, Julia said she is now training dogs for competitions. She showed off her skills as a trainer by gently giving commands to an adorable pup named Willow Blu. This career shift makes a lot of sense for Julia, as Brandon’s parents appear to be dog breeders, and she likely works with them to obtain new clients. Hopefully, Julia and Betty make better co-workers than they do housemates.
She Is Feuding With Another 90 Day Alum
Julia has been feuding with her former friend, 90 Day alum Yara Zaya, since their memorable fight during the season 8 Tell-All, in which they clashed over their beliefs regarding plastic surgery.
After the show, their feud continued, with Julia mocking Yara for the surgeries she’s had, Yara suggesting Julia’s husband, Brandon, was not a catch, and then making fun of Julia’s reaction to farm life in a shady Instagram post. Most recently, the pair struggled with cultural conflicts as Yara, who is Ukrainian, has been outspoken about her opposition to Russia, and Julia has been supportive of her home country.
Julia & Brandon Love To Travel
Julia loves to travel and it seems as though she’s found a jet-setting partner in her husband, Brandon. The couple has traveled all over the world together to destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Laos, Thailand, Cyprus, Turkey, France, Korea, and Serbia, among other places.
The couple has also extensively explored the U.S. together, vacationing in many popular cities. It appears as though they both prefer tropical vacations, in particular, or any location with a beach. Brandon and Julia have been known to enjoy cruises and have been criticized for embarking on expensive expeditions while complaining about their finances.

Julia, who was born on October 16th, is a Libra. Astrology.com explains that people born under the sign of Libra enjoy partnerships and being in a marriage. Julia and Brandon share a love for motorcycles. Julia recently mentioned on Instagram that she’s now the proud owner of a stylish black bike and, under Brandon’s tutelage, is working towards her motorcycle license.
