The official The Mandalorian season 3 is filled with story details, Easter eggs, and other things that are easy to miss. The first Star Wars live-action TV show only included loose connections to the larger franchise when it first began. However, Jon Favreau has continued to connect The Mandalorian to the galaxy far, far away in several ways. This includes surprise cameos from Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kryze, and Luke Skywalker as Din Djarin and Grogu’s story progressed. There has been an increase in the familiar aliens, locations, and other Star Wars Easter eggs included thanks to the show’s incredible popularity.
Understandably, The Mandalorian season 3 is also expected to heavily connect itself to the larger Star Wars franchise. The Easter eggs and fan service are not the driving force behind the show, though, and the series still has its own story that takes precedence. The Mandalorian season 3 trailer teased the next chapter in Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventure, which includes them traveling to Mandalore. Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter and Baby Yoda are featured prominently throughout the footage, but they are far from the only elements included. Here are the biggest things missed in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer.
1 Bo-Katan IS In The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer
Despite the initial reaction that led to the belief that Bo-Katan is absent from The Mandalorian season 3 trailer, it seems that she is in the footage after all. A group of Mandalorians is shown walking across the rocky desert terrain at the very beginning of the trailer. While the camera stays far enough away to identify the entire group clearly, it does appear that Bo-Katan is the prominently featured female Mandalorian leading the group. The helmet is shaped like Bo-Katan’s, so this could be her leading Death Watch. If so, this shot above could be the only actual glimpse of Katee Sackhoff’s Star Wars: Rebels character in the trailer.
Even if this shot does not include Bo-Katan, it appears that The Mandalorian season 3 trailer hid another appearance by her. During the spaceship chase sequence above the water, TIE fighters are shown pursuing a Gauntlet starfighter that resembles Bo-Katan’s. The trailer cleverly cuts to Din Djarin inside his N-1 starfighter to make it appear as though he is flying the Gauntlet starfighter. However, The Mandalorian season 2 already established that Bo-Katan and the Death Watch use a Gauntlet starfighter for transport. While the footage prevents audiences from seeing Kryze piloting the ship, she should be in there.
2 Mandalorian Season 3’s Kowakian Monkey-Lizards Show How Much Nevarro Has Changed
The Kowakian Monkey-Lizard in The Mandalorian season 3 highlights a detail that could be easy to miss. The presence of the Star Wars alien directly reflects how much Nevarro has changed. The happy Kowakian Monkey-Lizard living freely in season 3 contrasts with how they were featured in season 1. They were shown to be trapped in cages and cooked on the streets to be used for food on the unruly planet and the base for the Bounty Hunter’s Guild. Now that Greef Karga is the magistrate of the planet, the Kowakian Monkey-Lizard’s living conditions are a sign of how much he’s improved it.
3 Grogu Is Still Wearing His Beskar Chainmail Armor After Book of Boba Fett
Grogu’s journey in The Book of Boba Fett will still be important in the new season, as his Beskar chainmail armor might be something from The Mandalorian season 3 trailer that was missed. When he and Din were separated, Grogu had to choose to keep the Beskar armor and return to the Mandalorian or keep a lightsaber and continue training with Luke Skywalker. Grogu made his choice to return to Din and take the chainmail armor. The Mandalorian season 3 footage includes a few moments where the armor is visible underneath Grogu’s regular clothes.
4 Coruscant Returns After The Original Trilogy (Or Is Hosnian Prime?)
A return to Coruscant is another thing viewers could have missed in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer. As one of the most utilized planets in the Star Wars franchise, the home for the Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire was first introduced in Return of the Jedi. It returned in a major way during the prequels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The shot of Dr. Pershing traveling through an advanced city skyline appears to be Coruscant, which would make sense as it still factors into the New Republic’s politics and connects to Palpatine. If it is, this would be the first live-action glimpse of Coruscant after the original trilogy.
There is a chance that The Mandalorian season 3 trailer is actually showing Hosnian Prime here, though. Hosnian Prime was the headquarters for the New Republic during this time, which could explain why Pershing is there, as he was captured by Din in The Mandalorian season 2 finale. It is possible that Pershing’s appearance here – whether he is on Coruscant or Hosnian Prime – shows him as a prisoner of the New Republic.
5 The Mandalorian Season 3 Teases A New Danger – But Is It Snoke or Thrawn?
There is also a telling line in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer about the new danger that is coming. Carson Teva is heard saying something dangerous is happening “out there” that needs to be addressed. He appears to be referencing danger emerging in the Outer Rim, which raises questions about who or what he is referring to. The Mandalorian has repeatedly teased potential connections to Snoke and the First Order, so Teva might be on the road to discovering precisely what is happening. There is also the chance that the line refers to Thrawn, who was name-dropped in season 2 to help set up Ahsoka‘s spinoff.
6 Grogu’s Order 66 Memories Are More Clear To Answer Who Saved Him
The Mandalorian season 3 trailer also teases more Order 66 flashbacks, but viewers might miss how clear Grogu’s visions are at this point. The show has kept Baby Yoda’s memory clouded in mystery and made that visually clear with how the memories look. The shot of multiple Jedi preparing to protect Grogu from an unclear threat is much more clear than any other Order 66 memory The Mandalorian featured before. This is a good sign that season 3 could finally provide an answer for who saved Baby Yoda from Anakin, who could even be in The Mandalorian‘s latest flashback scene.
7 The Prequel’s Battle Droids Return In Mandalorian Season 3
The return of B1 battle droids from the Star Wars prequels might be missed by those watching The Mandalorian season 3 trailer. They are featured on the left side of a shot of a droid bar that Din visits. Not only is the moment a good reversal from A New Hope‘s cantina not serving droids, but it is also another chance for the show to feature the battle droids from the prequel era. While The Mandalorian featured B2 super battle droids in Din’s origin flashbacks, this is the first time B1s have been featured in a live-action project set after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
8 The Mandalorian’s IG-11 Statue On Nevarro Is Destroyed In Season 3
Viewers may have missed an IG-11 cameo in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer, as the statue for Taika Waititi’s heroic droid is featured twice. The IG-11 statue is first shown behind Din and Greef as they meet on Nevarro, as the robot’s leg on top of a stormtrooper helmet is seen in the background. The sign of IG-11’s heroics in season 1 was first featured in season 2, but it will not last through the third season. A later scene in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer shows the statue has been completely destroyed or removed as a group of Mandalorians arrive.
9 The Mandalorian Season 3 Teases Babu Frik’s Return After Rise of Skywalker
The presence of Anzellans in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer is not easy to miss, but the possibility of one of these creatures being Babu Frik might be overlooked. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker introduced the fan-favorite Anzellan, and speculation about Babu Frik being in The Mandalorian season 3 has been ongoing since the first teaser. There is no direct confirmation that the Anzellan featured in the show is Babu Frik, and the series will gain another strong connection to the sequel trilogy if it is.
