9 Characters We Want To See In The Halloween TV Show (Besides Michael Myers)

9 Characters We Want To See In The Halloween TV Show (Besides Michael Myers)

Many characters from the movie franchise have the potential to return for Miramax’s Halloween TV series. Starting with the titular movie in 1978, the Halloween movies follow serial killer Michael Myers as he wreaks havoc in Haddonfield, Illinois, and stalks Laurie Strode. This franchise helped create and define the slasher genre. Unsurprisingly, the franchise went on for so long that it’s hard to know what order to watch the Halloween movies. After the most recent addition. Halloween Ends, rumors spread that the franchise was finally coming to an end after almost five decades. It seemed unlikely that Halloween 14 would ever come to the big screen.

Luckily for fans, news broke that Miramax is developing a Halloween TV series. The series is described as a creative reset which is much needed after 13 installations across four timelines. A Miramax rep described the series as being based on the original John Carpenter movie and exploring overlooked characters. This description opens up a world of possibilities, as the only real requirement is that the character be physically present in the first movie or exist during that time. Fortunately, there are many great characters to choose from for Miramax’s Halloween TV series.

Though he doesn’t appear until Halloween (2018), Deputy Frank Hawkins is present on the titular holiday in 1978 when he and other officers try to take down Michael Myers. During an altercation, Officer Hawkins accidentally shoots and kills McCabe, a mistake that haunted him for the rest of his life. Given his direct interaction with Michael Myers and the character’s complex psychological profile, he would be a great focus for the Halloween TV show. He’s already familiar to fans of the franchise, but the narrative hasn’t focused on him as much, offering a wide range of options for the storyline.

In the original Halloween, Leigh Brackett works as an officer in Haddonfield, Illinois. While he initially dismisses the danger, he learns just how dangerous Michael Myers is when the villain pursues his daughter, Annie. Because there are multiple Halloween timelines, the exact events involving him get muddled after Michael Myers attacks Annie. This makes him the perfect choice for the Halloween TV show.

Because the timelines have different representations of Leigh Brackett, there’s no risk of ruining the storyline by taking a different narrative approach. Basically, the only consistency in the Halloween movies is his job and his daughter. Additionally, he’s already well-developed, allowing audiences to emotionally invest in the character.

Halloween (1978)

Though he was mentioned in the comics and novels, Ben Tramer only appears in Halloween II. On the titular holiday, he wore a costume similar to Michael Myers, causing him to get chased down. He meets a quick, fiery end. However, if the Halloween TV show starts from the very beginning of the franchise, the writers could make Ben Tramer into the main character. Based on trends in horror movies, slasher villains don’t take well to imposters. If Ben was dressed up as Michael Myers prior to the events of Halloween II, he could become the villain’s target.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween II

While the Halloween TV show is advertised as being based on John Carpenter’s movies, the series has the opportunity to bring in the best elements from all the timelines and directors. One smart idea would be to bring in Ronnie White from Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007). This character helps provide context as to how Michael Meyer became a serial killer. Rob Zombie did an incredible job of making Ronnie terrifying, a difficult feat with such a bone-chilling main character. Additionally, this could bridge the lore between the timelines, establishing one consistent canon instead of four different sets of movies.

Miramax has announced a new Halloween television series that will be based on the original film after a bumpy few years for the horror franchise.

5
Jimmy From Halloween II

Played By Actor Lance Guest

Jimmy looks downward in Halloween II.

Jimmy is one of the best Halloween characters who only appear in one movie. The character is wholesome and genuinely wants to help Laurie. However, he inadvertently makes Michael aware of Laurie’s location at the end of the movie. Despite being one of the few characters to survive the movie, Jimmy never appears in the Halloween movies again. With that in mind, the Halloween TV show could explore the character further.

Not much is known about his backstory or how he became an EMT. It’s also unknown if he had any connection to Michael Myers. Both these mysteries would be interesting to explore. Additionally, if the Halloween TV series includes Jimmy, the writers could finally answer the popular fan theory that Jimmy is the father of Jamie. This would finally put the question to rest.

4
Charlie Bowles From Halloween and Halloween: Charlie

Does Not Appear On Screen

Nick Castle as Michael Myers Looking Over the Bannister in Halloween

In Halloween (1978), Angus Taylor describes a familicide committed by Charlie Bowles against his wife and two kids. Based on the way Angus sets up the story, he uses a hacksaw as his murder weapon. While Charlie Bowles never physically appears onscreen, he would be a great choice to follow in the Halloween TV show. Michael Myers is 21 in the first Halloween, which would have made him six years old at the time of Charlie Bowles’s murders. If Michael Myers had any connection with Charlie, this could’ve influenced his path to becoming a notorious slasher villain.

3
Ismael Cruz From Halloween (2007)

Played By Actor Danny Trejo

Ismael wears a backwards baseball cap and glasses in Halloween.

One way Rob Zombie’s Halloween changed the canon is by introducing Ismael Cruz. Even though he doesn’t appear in the original movies, he’s one of the most beloved characters due to his compassionate nature and belief that he can help Michael Myers. He tries to help a ten-year-old Myers find peace within the mental facility.

Depending on how far back the Halloween TV show wants to go in the lore, Michael Myers’ childhood would be a good starting point, in which case Ismael would need to have a central role in the storyline. Additionally, this wouldn’t be an impossible ask considering actor Danny Trejo, who played Ismael is one of the biggest actors in Hollywood and does at least 4 movies or series every year. As such, he’d likely be willing to make time for the Halloween TV show.

Rather than centering on Michael Myers, Halloween III: Season of the Witch shifts its attention to a sinister cult. The disconnect from the series would make it seem like these characters couldn’t appear in the Halloween TV series; however, their untapped potential makes them the perfect targets for Michael Myers.

If Daniel Challis can go up against Cochran, it would be interesting to see him face off against the movie franchise’s slasher villain in the upcoming TV show. Though it wouldn’t make sense for Tom Atkins to return for his role, based on the passed time, Daniel appearing in the Halloween TV show would allow a new actor to join one of the best horror franchises of all time.

1
Barry McNichol From Halloween II

Played By Actor Dana Carvey

Dana Carvey from SNL grits his teeth while wearing glasses.

It’s easy to forget that certain actors were in the Halloween movies. One such example is Dana Carvey, who played Barry McNichol in Halloween II. He had such a small part in the movie that the Halloween TV show could put more attention on his character without worrying about continuity. The little that’s known is that he’s a news assistant and reports Debra missing. Besides this, Barry McNichol has untapped potential that the Halloween show can use to its advantage.
