8 Star Wars Projects The Bad Batch Could Appear In Next

Star Wars: The Bad Batch has just one more episode before the show’s end, but Clone Force 99 could return to Star Wars in these 10 projects. First introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show, the Bad Batch crew comprises Hunter, Tech, Crosshair, Wrecker, and Echo, all of them deviations from the other clone troopers with unique abilities. However, The Bad Batch thrillingly added Omega, an unaltered female clone. Tragically, Tech almost certainly died in The Bad Batch season 2 ending, despite speculation to the contrary, and it seems Echo has truly left the Bad Batch.

In spite of some departed members, though, the Bad Batch’s story in Star Wars movies and TV shows doesn’t have to be over. In fact, The Bad Batch season 3 has put forth a number of plot points that could be continued in future Star Wars projects. These 10 possibilities, some confirmed projects and others just theories for now, could include the return of the Bad Batch’s surviving members.

Omega And The Bad Batch Could Lead An Omega Spin-Off Show

Omega’s Star Wars Story Can’t Be Over Yet

The Bad Batch season 3 shocked audiences by revealing that Omega may be Force-sensitive after two seasons with no hint of this plot to come. The Bad Batch season 3 three-episode premiere specifically revealed that, rather than solely motivation for Kaminoan scientist Nala Se to work on Emperor Palpatine’s mysterious clone project, Omega was kidnapped in The Bad Batch season 2 for experiments. Project Necromancer, meant to shore up Palpatine’s eventual return, had the Empire testing on clones, attempting to increase their midi-chlorian counts.

However, Omega was the only clone whose M-counts were successfully increased. While m-count doesn’t guarantee that someone will gain Force abilities—midi-chlorians merely suggest someone’s potential in the Force—there is certainly a connection. Moreover, The Bad Batch has since nodded toward Omega having several of Star Wars’ many canon Force abilities, from improved intuition to an unusually strong bond with animals. This would certainly set Omega up for a spin-off show.

Following Star Wars’ first Force-sensitive clone in her own show would make sense. If true, it would be a fascinating update and would mesh well with Star Wars’ latest trend of expanding the definitions of the Force and who can possess it. Omega is also still quite young, so she surely has more stories left to tell. More than that, while season 3 is the confirmed final season of The Bad Batch, there are still many loose threads. Perhaps the show could successfully wrap everything up in its final episode, but it seems likely that something else is coming next.

Omega And The Bad Batch Could Have Major Roles In An Asajj Ventress Show

Ventress’ Return Is Already Confirmed

With the reveal of Omega’s possible Force-sensitivity came the return of The Clone Wars fan-favorite Asajj Ventress. Despite being an apprentice to Count Dooku and one of the perhaps morally gray Nightsisters of Dathomir in The Clone Wars, Ventress has had an incredible and complex journey in Star Wars, and that seems to be only growing truer with time. Ventress’ surprising cameo included her offering to test Omega’s abilities with the Force. Although she claimed she found no evidence that Omega possessed the Force, she seemed very clearly to be lying.

Excitingly, Ventress’ Star Wars return was confirmed, although the exact project and timeline remain undefined. Given this interaction with Omega in The Bad Batch season 3, that could include a role as Omega’s Jedi Master. This would be an incredible shift in Ventress’ story—one that has been more than earned. Although Ventress spent considerable time on the dark side, she is in many ways a victim of her circumstances. Having Omega’s Jedi story guided by Ventress would be the perfect project for both characters to make their reappearance.

The Bad Batch Could Appear In Tales Of The Empire

Tales Of The Empire Is Star Wars’ Next TV Show

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will be released on Star Wars Day, May 4th, 2024. The announcement of the show came as a shock; although audiences were expecting Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi season 2, the franchise surprised everyone by pivoting to this dark side-focused show featuring Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth and fallen Jedi Barriss Offee rather than two Jedi. This could very well be when the Bad Batch team makes their next appearance.

Although updates on Tales of the Empire have revealed very few story details, presumably, the show will follow the pattern of Tales of the Jedi. This means that Barriss and Morgan’s stories will move through time. Certainly, the Bad Batch could have come in contact with either or both of them, particularly during the Dark Times. In light of that, Tales of the Empire is certainly another viable option for Clone Force 99’s possible return to Star Wars.

Omega Could Appear In Rey’s New Star Wars Movie

Omega’s Move To Live-Action Would Be Thrilling

Updates on Rey’s new Star Wars movie, rumored to be titled New Jedi Order, remain even further under wraps than those for Tales of the Empire. However, Star Wars has confirmed that the movie takes place 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Although this is much further along in the Star Wars timeline than The Bad Batch, Omega’s age means she very well could be alive during Rey’s movie. Especially if Omega proves to have the Force, this could prove interesting.

Moreover, one Star Wars theory suggests Rey could be Omega’s descendant. Rey’s father, Dathan, was a strandcast clone of Palpatine, meaning his genetic material comprised Palpatine’s blood combined with other DNA. As Omega is the only clone whose m-count was successfully increased, this could mean Omega’s blood was used to create Dathan. If that were the case, Rey would not only be a Palpatine but also a descendant of Omega; as someone who has constantly sought family, this could be an amazing change for Rey’s story.

The Bad Batch’s Story Could Be Expanded In The New Republic Era

If The Bad Batch Members Survive, Their Story Could Continue

Although The Bad Batch is set in the Dark Times, at first even directly overlapping with Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, it’s possible that Clone Force 99 could reappear during the New Republic timeline following Return of the Jedi and the fall of the Empire. Given how interesting it has been to watch what the clones have become following the end of the Clone Wars, this would no doubt also prove an interesting exploration. While no such show has been announced, Star Wars is constantly expanding, and the franchise offers no shortage of surprises.

Moreover, there are a number of projects currently in the works set during the New Republic era, suggesting it remains of interest to Star Wars and its audiences. In addition to Ahsoka, the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie will be set during this period, no doubt showing the obstacles the New Republic faced even before the First Order rose up and wiped them out. While it might be unlikely for The Mandalorian & Grogu to include the Bad Batch team, there are other possibilities on the horizon.

The Bad Batch (And Rex) Could Unite With Ahsoka Tano In Ahsoka Season 2

Ahsoka’s Reunion With The Clones Would Be Emotional In The Best Way

Among the options for upcoming New Republic era projects is the upcoming Ahsoka season 2, which is already in the works. The Ahsoka season 1 finale saw the return of Thrawn and Ezra Bridger to the main Star Wars galaxy, setting up a major impending battle focused on Imperial sympathizers and lingering loyalties to the Empire. The Bad Batch is perhaps some of the best equipped to handle such a threat given their extensive wartime experience, especially with Ahsoka Tano trapped on Peridea during the fight to come.

Moreover, this could bring Captain Rex back to Star Wars, as his fate remains unclear. His return, perhaps in conjunction with the Bad Batch’s, would be especially meaningful because of Ahsoka and Rex’s deep connection and friendship throughout The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. While this would require a jump from animation to live-action for the Bad Batch, Star Wars has already proven to be willing to make such a jump. In Ahsoka season 1, Captain Rex himself made a live-action appearance in a Clone Wars-era flashback.

The Bad Batch Could Appear In A Darth Vader Show

Audiences Are Hopeful For A Vader Show

While a Darth Vader show hasn’t been announced, audiences have long hoped that one could be coming. As both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka have led their own TV shows, it seems fitting that Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader would get one too. Clearly, interest in the heroes of the prequel era remains high, and, even better, Hayden Christensen has repeatedly expressed continued interest in reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker. This could mean that a Vader show is in Star Wars’ future.

While many stories have been told about the events following Revenge of the Sith in recent years—Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rebels, and The Bad Batch among them—plenty of untold Vader stories remain, at least in terms of what has been shown on screen. Vader’s attempts to resurrect Padmé, his internal conflict to squash any bit of Anakin that remains alive inside him, and his efforts with the Inquisitors could all be explored. Were such a show to exist, the Bad Batch could certainly be included. Vader, unfortunately for him, will always have a significant connection to the Clone Wars.

The Bad Batch Story Could Continue In A Comic

Comics Would Allow Star Wars To Take Clone Force 99’s Story Off Screen

Of course, Clone Force 99’s on-screen appearances may truly be over after The Bad Batch. However, that doesn’t have to mean that their stories in Star Wars canon are over. It’s possible that the Bad Batch’s stories could be continued in Star Wars comics, which have explored numerous canon stories in recent years. This would certainly be one way to offer closure for the remaining threads from the show while steering new Star Wars shows and movies in a new direction and truly putting the Clone Wars era to bed.

With just one episode left, it isn’t clear how The Bad Batch will conclude the complex stories of the Bad Batch team members. Their future in Star Wars is perhaps even less clear, as whether they will even be seen again remains in question. However, if the main characters of Star Wars: The Bad Batch are to be seen again, these 10 Star Wars projects, both confirmed and theoretical, would be amazing possibilities.
