8 Reasons Why Aesha Scott Shouldn’t Be On Below Deck Mediterranean (She Belongs On Below Deck Down Under)

8 Reasons Why Aesha Scott Shouldn’t Be On Below Deck Mediterranean (She Belongs On Below Deck Down Under)

Aesha Scott may be Captain Sandy Yawn’s new Chief Stew on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, but she belongs on Below Deck Down Under. She made her Below Deck franchise debut on Below Deck Med working under Captain Sandy and Hannah Ferrier in season 4. Aesha quickly became an adored crew member, beloved for her bubbly personality and work ethic. She formed a close relationship with her Chief Stew Hannah and returned once more for Below Deck Med season 5. However, she came into her own working alongside Captain Jason Chambers in Below Deck Down Under.

The Kiwi-born yachtie joined the Australian spin-off as Captain Jason’s Chief Stew in Below Deck Down Under season 1. It was her first stint as Chief Stew, and she crushed the role. Aesha’s good vibes inspired Captain Jason, her crew, and all the charter guests. It was a big shock when she announced she was returning to Below Deck Med season 9 to serve as Captain Sandy’s new Chief Stew. Her casting begs the question of whether or not Aesha is done with Below Deck Down Under for good.

Aesha Is Good Friends With Hannah Ferrier

What Does Hannah Think About Aesha Being Captain Sandy’s Chief Stew?

Aesha is great friends with Hannah, the former Below Deck Med Chief Stew. Before she took on the role of Chief Stew on Below Deck Down Under, Aesha told Bravo Insider that she would often ask Hannah for advice. “She, honestly, was just such a godsend, and she was really there for me,” she said. Hannah was the Chief Stew on Below Deck Med from seasons 1-5. She was fired by Captain Sandy after discovering Hannah had a vape pen and Valium onboard with no prescription.

Hannah was one of the best Below Deck Chief Stews, as was Aesha. It’s quite shocking she is taking over Hannah’s job, where she created some of the franchise’s most iconic moments. The close relationship that the two Chief Stews have formed is heartwarming. However, Hannah has not publicly commented on Aesha taking over her old job. It’s unclear what she thinks about Aesha joining Below Deck Med, the show where they first met, but she’s likely happy for her friend.

Aesha Was Thriving On Below Deck Down Under

She Made Below Deck Down Under A Good Show

Aesha was a great Chief Stew on Below Deck Down Under. She took charge, handled her stews adequately, and worked incredibly well with Captain Jason during her two seasons. Aesha’s hilarious and endearing personality made her a likable Chief Stew. She took her work very seriously but made time to have fun and form bonds with her crew. Aesha also stepped up in a moment in Below Deck Down Under season 2 when a drunken Luke Jones entered Margot Sisson’s bunk naked. Aesha made sure Margot was safe at that moment.

It was one of the most shocking incidents in Below Deck history. Production also had to step in and break the fourth wall, which doesn’t happen unless there is a serious situation. Aesha immediately went to Captain Jason and informed him of what happened with Luke, and he fired him. She did not hesitate to do what was right for the safety of Margot. She’s a reliable leader, and she’ll be able to use these skills as the Chief Stew on Below Deck Med season 9.

Aesha Was Never A Huge Fan Of Captain Sandy

Did Aesha Work Well With Captain Sandy?

Aesha and Captain Sandy did not have the closest relationship when she worked for her on Below Deck Med during her first two seasons. The new Chief Stew formerly worked with Captain Sandy on seasons 4 and 5. On the Below Deck Med After Show, from Bravo TV, Aesha said she almost said “no” to Captain Sandy when she asked her to work for her during season 5. “I wasn’t that pumped about it,” she said, adding that she was really “homesick” when they filmed the season.

Aesha Might Not Return To Below Deck Down Under Now

Will Aesha Be Able To Do Below Deck Med & Down Under?

With Aesha working as the Chief Stew on Below Deck Med season 9 now, she may not be able to return in Below Deck Down Under season 3. This would devastate the show for several reasons. Below Deck Down Under would be losing its trustworthy, reliable Chief Stew. The crew’s chemistry could diminish without Aesha and Captain Jason’s close relationship. She has not confirmed or denied if she will be on Below Deck Down Under season 3, but it seems Aesha may only be on Below Deck Med season 9 for now.

Aesha Got Along Well With Captain Jason

They Had A Great Working Relationship

Aesha had a great Captain-Chief Stew relationship with Captain Jason on Below Deck Down Under. She was Captain Jason’s Chief Stew in seasons 1 and 2 of the Below Deck spin-off series. There was speculation Aesha and Captain Jason were potentially in a romantic relationship because of how palpable their chemistry was. She even opted to help him put in his contact lenses during Below Deck Down Under season 2, which became a very talked-about moment of the season. She told The Daily Dish that she and Captain Jason were “a really supportive unit.”

“He’s my captain, but he’s also my friend.”

The contact lens scene showed how close Aesha and Captain Jason truly were. They made sure to clear up any rumors, ensuring the audience they were not romantically involved. Captain Jason needed Aesha to run a successful operation on Below Deck Down Under, and vice versa. It would be weird to see Aesha form that type of bond with Captain Sandy. She likely won’t have the same chemistry with Captain Sandy as she did with Captain Jason.

3

Aesha Might Not Get Along With Captain Sandy

Will They Get Along On Below Deck Med?

Captain Sandy and Aesha may not get along. Captain Sandy was not keen on Hannah, whom Aesha was very close with. After Hannah was fired, Aesha told Entertainment Tonight that she felt “very protective” of her friend and saw how “vulnerable” the former Chief Stew was when Captain Sandy fired her. Captain Sandy could redirect her dislike of Hannah towards Aesha on Below Deck Med season 9. Aesha was a great Chief Stew to Captain Jason, so it’s unlikely this will happen. She generally gets along with everyone, but this could shift with Captain Sandy.

Captain Sandy Would Easily Fire Aesha, Jason Wouldn’t

Captain Sandy Is Known For Easily Firing Crew Members

Captain Sandy is known for firing crew members. If Aesha does not adequately impress her, she could easily be fired. Aesha worked closely with Captain Jason for two seasons of Below Deck Down Under, and he would never fire her. However, Captain Sandy only knows Aesha as one of her former lesser-ranked stews. She only has their last working experiences together to base her opinion on Aesha. She has to prove herself as Captain Sandy’s new Chief Stew to ensure she isn’t terminated.

Below Deck Down Under Might Find A New Chief Stew Now

Who Would Replace Aesha As Down Under Season 3’s Chief Stew?

If Aesha can’t serve as the Chief Stew on Below Deck Down Under, the series has to find a new one. She was the OG Chief Stew on the spin-off series and has done an exceptional job. Aesha’s working relationship with Captain Jason has been one of the main highlights of Below Deck Down Under seasons 1 and 2. However, the show must go on, and Captain Jason may have to name her replacement.

It’s unclear who would replace Aesha as Chief Stew, but they likely won’t be as beloved as Aesha. Some possibilities could be Tumi Mhlongo was a stew on Below Deck Down Under season 1 and the Chief Stew on Below Deck Med season 8. Even Jamiee Neale from Below Deck Down Under season 2 could be the next Chief Stew. Only time will tell.
