8 Ahsoka Stories Star Wars Has Yet To Tell

8 Ahsoka Stories Star Wars Has Yet To Tell

After a co-starring role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and a lead role in Ahsoka, the former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano has several key stories that the Star Wars franchise has yet to tell. The Star Wars prequel era was reimagined for the new Star Wars canon in The Clone Wars, which introduced exciting new characters such as Clone Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano, with the latter being Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan. While Ahsoka never ascended to official Jedi Knighthood, she would gradually become one of the new timeline’s most important characters, playing roles in key galactic events. That said, there are still gaps in her history that are worth exploring.

After numerous animated appearances, Ahsoka Tano finally made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2, which brought her into the early New Republic era. Ahsoka Tano went on to appear once more in The Book of Boba Fett, setting up her eventual starring role in Ahsoka, which not only continued her story from Star Wars Rebels but also set up the live-action debut and future appearances of the iconic Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ahsoka’s appearances in The Clone Wars, Rebels, and the recent live-action Star Wars TV shows may flesh out Ahsoka’s characterization and history, but they leave room for future properties to fill in the gaps.

8 How Did Ahsoka Escape Malachor?

Star Wars Rebels

Following Ahsoka Tano’s first visit to the World Between Worlds, she is left stranded on Malachor in the aftermath of her near-fatal encounter with Darth Vader. The next time viewers see Ahsoka is after the fall of the Galactic Empire and the death of Vader, with Tano searching for Ezra Bridger with Sabine Wren. While Ahsoka Tano is shown to be a resourceful and clever survivor, it would be fascinating for viewers to see how precisely she left the ancient Sith planet. While Tano might have stowed away on a visiting starship, perhaps she reached out to a Force-sensitive ally who helped her escape.

7 Did Ahsoka Reunite With Captain Rex?

Star Wars Rebels

Ahsoka Tano and Clone Captain Rex were close friends throughout the Clone Wars, and both veterans would go on to become among the earliest members of the Rebel Alliance, with each playing a role in its establishment. Tragically, Rex believed Ahsoka to have died on Malachor, as Ezra Bridger never informed him of her survival. Worse still, Rex does not appear in Ahsoka outside of flashbacks, making it unclear if the two ever reunited following the events of Rebels. Considering the importance of Rex and Ahsoka, both as individuals and as a duo, their potential reunion is worth showing, if not addressing, in a future Star Wars property.

6 What Role Did Ahsoka Play In The Galactic Civil War?

Star Wars Original Trilogy

Ahsoka in Star Wars Original Trilogy

While Captain Rex is confirmed to have continued to serve the Rebel Alliance (and be promoted to Commander) through the Battle of Endor, it is unknown if Ahsoka rejoined the Rebellion and, if so, to what capacity. While not a true Jedi, Ahsoka Tano is nevertheless Jedi-trained and possesses the altruism, Force power, and fighting skills of the Order’s finest Knights. Depending on when Tano escaped Malachor, she would have been an invaluable member of the Rebel Alliance, perhaps working alongside Rex once again or even the heroes of the original Star Wars trilogy. In any case, Ahsoka’s whereabouts during the original trilogy era ought to be explored.

5 When Did Ahsoka Reunite With Huyang?

Ahsoka

Ahsoka and Huyang In Ship

The ancient droid Huyang has been an invaluable ally to the Jedi Order since its early history, helping countless younglings construct their lightsabers, including Ahsoka Tano herself. While Ahsoka and Huyang work together in one Clone Wars story arc, the latter is not seen again until Ahsoka, in which he searches for Ezra Bridger alongside Ahsoka and Sabine. How Huyang survived Order 66 and the Jedi Purge, let alone reunited with Ahsoka Tano, remains to be explained, but given Huyang’s long history as a member of the Jedi Order and his role in Ahsoka, these are stories worth telling.

4 Why Did Ahsoka Choose To Train Sabine As A Jedi?

Ahsoka

Ahsoka and Sabine with their white and green lightsabers

Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren had few interactions in Rebels, but Ahsoka established that the two had an extensive history together between the two shows. While Wren is never shown to have had any sensitivity to the Force in Rebels, Ahsoka reveals that not only is she a Force-sensitive, but she had been trained in the Jedi ways by Ahsoka. Fascinatingly, Hera Syndulla’s son, Jacen Syndulla, might have been a more obvious choice for Jedi tutelage, so a future Star Wars property should explain to viewers why it was specifically Sabine who Ahsoka chose to train in the ways of the Jedi.

3 Why Did Ahsoka Give Up On Training Sabine As A Jedi?

Ahsoka

Sabine Wren training as a Jedi in Ahsoka

Ahsoka and Sabine had not interacted for quite some time by the start of Ahsoka, and it is later revealed that Tano ended Wren’s Jedi training prematurely. While an obvious explanation for this might be Wren’s weak connection to the Force, there are other, more interesting, possibilities for why Ahsoka ended Sabine’s tutelage. Ahsoka is suffering from severe self-doubt in Ahsoka episode 5, so perhaps Tano doubted her own ability to properly train Wren. Huyang implies to Ezra Bridger that Wren and Tano had a falling out following the Great Purge of Mandalore, which might have caused Wren enough anguish to make her susceptible to the dark side.

2 Why Does Sabine Blame Ahsoka For The Fall Of Mandalore?

Ahsoka

The Night of a Thousand Tears in The Book of Boba Fett.

Baylan Skoll implies that Sabine blames Ahsoka for the Great Purge of Mandalore due to a lack of trust. Huyang notes that the two had their falling out after the Purge, yet Skoll’s words indicate that Ahsoka was hesitant to fully train Sabine in the Jedi ways before this. Had Sabine completed her training, she might have been able to prevent the Purge of Mandalore, or at least help more Mandalorians survive the Empire’s genocide. This, naturally, would lead to bad blood between Ahsoka and Sabine, explaining their strained relationship at the start of Ahsoka and being a story worth telling in a future Star Wars property.

1 When & How Did Ahsoka Tano Meet Luke Skywalker?

The Book Of Boba Fett

One of the biggest Ahsoka Tano stories that needs to be told someday is how she met Luke Skywalker. The two are already familiar with each other by the events of The Book of Boba Fett, and given Ahsoka’s tutelage under Anakin Skywalker (and both Ahsoka and Luke’s importance to the Star Wars franchise), their first encounter is simply too monumental to not be shown. Luke Skywalker might have been the one to help Ahsoka escape Malachor, or perhaps the two worked together during the Galactic Civil War. Either way, how and when the two met in the new Star Wars canon is essential to the story of Ahsoka Tano, and thus deserves a place in either a potential Ahsoka season 2 or another Star Wars story.
