The Acolyte season 1 finale has closed this chapter of Mae and Osha’s life, but it has also showed the creation of a Sith lightsaber for the first time in live-action. The Acolyte episode 8 gave audiences plenty of reveals and revelations, especially about how the Sith are really connected to the broader story of The Acolyte. The episode also sees Osha truly embrace all of her pent-up emotions, leading her to the dark side.
The summit of The Acolyte season 1 led all the main characters back to Mae and Osha’s home planet Brendok, where they all had to confront their past in some way. Between the epic lightsaber duel between Master Sol and Manny Jacinto’s Sith Lord Qimir and Osha finally learning about how her mother died, The Acolyte’s finale followed through on many of its promises but also left clues about where The Acolyte will go next if given a season 2. One of the best and most unexpected moments came from Osha and her former Master.

Osha’s Lightsaber Turns Blood-Red In Her Hands
While killing Sol with a Force choke, Osha clings to his lightsaber with her free hand, and her dark side action “bleeds” Sol’s kyber crystal as he dies – thus turning it red by the time he hits the ground.
How A Sith “Bleeds” Their Lightsaber Red
A Sith “bleeds” a kyber crystal by overpowering it with the emotions that are characteristic of the dark side: hate, anger, fear, and so on. This is what Osha does while she’s actively killing Sol, which causes the crystal’s “bleeding.”
Where We’ve Seen Kyber Crystals “Bled” Before
Darth Vader “bled” kyber crystals in Star Wars’ Darth Vader comics, which proved to be a grueling task for him at first. In contrast, Ahsoka Tano has healed “bled” kyber crystals before, which is how she earned her white lightsabers first seen in Star Wars Rebels. The Acolyte, however, is the first time this act has been seen in Star Wars live-action.

The Acolyte is a television series set in the Star Wars universe at the end of the High Republic Era, where both the Jedi and the Galactic Empire were at the height of their influence. This sci-fi thriller sees a former Padawan reunite with her former Jedi Master as they investigate several crimes – all leading to darkness erupting from beneath the surface and preparing to bring about the end of the High Republic.
