A new teaser trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine sees Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth in a hilarious battle against glaring product placement. Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are set to bring their Fox X-Men franchise heroes into the MCU proper on July 26, and with Deadpool & Wolverine’s release date right round the corner, Marvel Studios isn’t slowing down in its brilliant marketing strategy. As well as a world press tour and a series of ad campaigns, Marvel Studios has also promoted Deadpool & Wolverine in fantastic teasers and trailers.

While Deadpool & Wolverine’s official trailers have detailed an exciting, multiversal storyline for the titular heroes, a new teaser trailer shared by Marvel Entertainment takes a more entertaining approach. Partnering with Heinz, Deadpool & Wolverine’s “Can’t Unsee It” teaser trailer imagines Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth as a bottle of ketchup, and Jackman’s clawed X-Men member as mustard, reflecting the colors of their respective superhero suits. This trailer also featured Deadpool breaking the fourth wall, speaking to the viewer to address the obvious product placement.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s Marketing Has Been Some Of The MCU’s Best

Deadpool & Wolverine’s hilarious new teaser trailer is just the latest in a long line of examples of excellent marketing from Marvel Studios. Several recent MCU projects have suffered because of lackluster marketing, whether that be because of low desire for them, or because of 2023’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes making marketing and promotion impossible. However, Deadpool & Wolverine is not one of these cases, as the movie has become one of the MCU’s most anticipated installments ever because of its promotion.

Several official and teaser trailers have been released, focusing primarily on Deadpool and Wolverine’s relationship on-screen. These iterations of the characters have never before been seen in the same project, so it was a great choice to translate Reynolds and Jackman’s entertaining friendship off-screen into their popular characters. Footage and a PSA released at 2024’s CinemaCon, which saw Deadpool and Wolverine break the fourth wall together, though this won’t happen in the actual movie. Deadpool & Wolverine also parodied Dune: Part Two’s branded popcorn bucket.

Shawn Levy, Reynolds and Jackman have since embarked on a world tour, taking part in Seoul’s Waterbomb Festival, appearing at the UEFA Euro 2024 quarterfinals in Berlin, meeting up with Dogpool in London, and screening 35 minutes of the movie during a fan event in Shanghai. This, along with ads for The Bachelorette, Heineken, Aviation Gin and Hot Topic, among others, have spread the word significantly. Early set photos from the production of Deadpool & Wolverine began to raise expectations, and Marvel Studios has only built on this in the lead-up to the movie’s premiere.
