One Piece episode #1112 was an episode that more than delivered on all the hype it had been receiving, and it sets an incredible precedent for episode #1113 and beyond. The animation and direction were some of the anime’s best in weeks, and with everything that’s set to happen in the upcoming months, there will hopefully be plenty more of that to come.

After briefly continuing things on Egghead Island to flesh out York’s betrayal and set up even more future developments, One Piece episode #1112 jumped right into the main plot of the episode: the fight between Shanks and Kid on Elbaf.

The anime did an incredible job of taking the fight as far as possible, and as always, it leaves a lot to be excited about for episode #1113 and other future episodes.

What Time One Piece Episode 1112 Releases

York explaining her plan to the Seraphim

As with previous episodes, the One Piece anime streams new episodes weekly on both Crunchyroll and Netflix, which can be accessed through their apps, websites, or third-party websites such as Amazon Prime for Crunchyroll. Assuming there are no delays, One Piece episode #1113 should premiere on Crunchyroll on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST), 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST), and 3:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), with the same episode debuting a week later on Netflix.

What Happened In One Piece Episode 1112?

Produced by Toei Animation; Directed by Wataru Matsumi

One Piece episode #1112, “Clash! Shanks vs. Eustass Kid,” opened with a brief flashback showing York taking control of the Seraphim to plot out her betrayal, even commanding S-Snake to petrify her so no one would suspect her of being the traitor. From there, the episode continued to show the increasing chaos surrounding Egghead, even revealing that the Blackbeard Pirates, last seen fighting Law and the Heart Pirates, were on their way to Egghead, as well.

The episode then went away from Egghead Island to focus on the fight between Shanks and Kid. As the Kid Pirates made their way toward Elbaf, they were intercepted by a fleet of Shanks’ subordinates, most of whom, to Kid’s annoyance, were there because Shanks liked them and not because they were strong enough for the New World. Not wanting to deal with them, Kid summoned his railgun and prepared to use Damned Punk to blow all of Shanks’ subordinates away.

Shanks’ Observation Haki gave him a vision of all the death and destruction Kid was going to cause, so he abandoned any plans of taking things easy and took out Kid in a single attack, with Killer even getting caught in the crossfire trying to protect Kid. With Kid on death’s door, the Kid Pirates begged Shanks for mercy, even offering up their Road Poneglyphs, but Shanks ignored them as Dorry and Brogy destroyed their ship. Everyone sank into the ocean, and the final words of the episode were the narrator saying that Shanks destroyed the Kid Pirates.

One Piece Finally Shows Off Why Shanks Is An Emperor

Shanks hitting Kid with Divine Departure

One Piece episode #1112 more than succeeded at showing why Red-Haired Shanks is an Emperor. Kid had just established himself as a major player by defeating Big Mom alongside Law, so Shanks defeating Kid in a single move shows just how strong Shanks is and how much Kid still needed to grow to take on an Emperor single-handedly. The fact that Shanks used one of Roger’s attacks to do it sold that point even further, as it made a clear statement of Shanks’ being on an entirely different level from what Kid would be capable of dealing with.

The animation and overall direction for One Piece episode #1112 also did a great job of selling Shanks’ power. Episode #1112 was another episode of the One Piece anime with creative and all-around gorgeous art and animation, and thanks to that, the One Piece anime managed to sell Shanks’ power and overall presence as an Emperor even more than the manga could. Episode #1112’s director, Wataru Matsumi, previously directed the similarly gorgeous episode #11101, and overall, he was the perfect person to bring Shanks’ power to life.

One Piece Episode 1112 Perfectly Kicks Off A Fantastic Interlude

Shanks in episode 1112

One Piece episode #1112 is the start of an extended interlude from Egghead Island, and there couldn’t have been a better way to kick things off. Between the dramatic note things left off with Egghead Island and the incredible animation used to show off both Shanks and Kid’s power, One Piece is looking to ramp up its quality to an even further degree for its upcoming story. Overall, summer 2024 will undoubtedly be the best season for the One Piece anime, and everyone should be excited to see that.

Be sure to watch One Piece episode #1113 when it releases on Saturday, July 20.
