A fan-made poster update imagines the titular heroes of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine joining Phase 5’s Guardians of the Galaxy team. Set to release on July 26, Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to pay tribute to 16 years of MCU history, with speculation suggesting that the titular mutants will revisit some of Marvel Studios’ most important live-action moments. This could bring Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into contact with a huge number of past MCU heroes, while also developing the overall narrative of the Multiverse Saga itself.

Some of the heroes that Deadpool and Wolverine could meet on their journey could be various members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, the cornerstone team of the MCU’s cosmic stories. This possible meeting has been imagined in a brilliant poster edit shared by bosslogic.

The poster edit places Deadpool and Wolverine alongside the Guardians team in their vibrant Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 poster. The pair seem to take a liking to Rocket, though it’s likely he wouldn’t reciprocate these feelings, should the mutants meet the Guardians in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Which Guardians Of The Galaxy Could Return In Deadpool & Wolverine?

Even though the Guardians of the Galaxy team’s line-up changed significantly in 2023’s Vol. 3, every original member of the group is still surviving in the MCU, meaning there are many possibilities of which members could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. Of course, nothing has yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios, so an appearance by any Guardian of the Galaxy is simply conjecture. Even so, it would be great to see Deadpool and Wolverine go toe-to-toe with some of these formidable cosmic heroes.

Currently, the only Guardians of the Galaxy member confirmed to be returning to the MCU is Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord. Since it’s unclear when he may be returning, Deadpool & Wolverine could present the perfect opportunity, particularly if the titular heroes are joining the MCU on the hunt for allies with superhero experience. In a June 2024 article, Deadline also teased Karen Gillan’s return to the MCU, supposedly in Avengers 5. Gillan could reprise her role of Nebula in Deadpool & Wolverine, whether that be as the MCU’s iteration, or a more villainous variant.

Sources close to [Avengers 5] say more than 60 MCU characters could reprise their roles, including everyone from Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Benedict Cumberbatch to Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu and Karen Gillian.

Although Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed when or if the new Guardians of the Galaxy team will return, there are clear hopes that the group will embark on more adventures in the MCU’s future. By exploring the multiverse and, to an extent, the cosmos, Deadpool & Wolverine could be a great place for the Guardians of the Galaxy to reappear. This could bring powerful new heroes such as Adam Warlock and Phyla back to the MCU, setting them up for bigger storylines in the future.
