The Evil cast is not happy that the show is coming to an end. Having first premiered in 2019, the series stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi as three investigators who are studying the supernatural at the behest of the Catholic Church. While the show’s popularity was increasing, the Evil season 4 cast was disappointed after discovering that the current season would be the last. The final episode is set to be released on August 8 and will bring the supernatural journey to an end.

In an interview with Collider, the main cast members expressed their disappointment with the need to end the show. Herbers, Colter, and Mandvi all expressed that the creators, Robert and Michelle King, had more stories to tell and may now never have the platform. The cast asked the audience to write to Paramount+ to request a revival, but they did promise to start a podcast, should the show not be renewed for season 5. Check out their responses below:

HERBERS: Yeah. We know that Robert and Michelle King wanted to make more and that there was more story to tell, so it feels really painful.

COLTER: If they didn’t have a place to take it, I’d be like, “Okay, sure, that’s fine.”

HERBERS: It would be different if they finished what they wanted to say with the show, but they didn’t, at all, have that feeling. That’s when it really hurts. We’re really great friends in real life and we have really great time making the show. It feels like a death, to be honest. But it feels more like a coma where there is still a chance that someone will have an injection and we’ll be like, “Oh, here we are again.” I’m a little in denial still.

MANDVI: The feeling is that, if we got to make more, we would be so happy and excited. But also, there’s a sense of real gratitude that we got to make this show.

HERBERS: Absolutely, that we got to make it, at all, and that it has been this good.

MANDVI: People should just write in and say they want more episodes and seasons of the show.

COLTER: Otherwise we’ll do a podcast, and we don’t want that. There are enough podcasts. I don’t want it. But if you don’t pick the show up, we’re gonna make a podcast, I swear to God. It’s gonna be ongoing and we’re gonna keep talking. We’re gonna comment on everything from the shoelaces of the President to riding bikes to politics. It’s gonna get disgusting and be so annoying. So, don’t make us start a podcast.

The Evil Cast Would Love To See Season 5

The three main cast members are not the only ones hoping for a season 5 renewal. Kurt Fuller (Dr. Kurt Boggs) gave his own statement about the upcoming ending and expressed his sorrow. Fuller stated that “it doesn’t have to [end]“, before explaining his surprise that “it’s one of the top shows on Paramount+” and yet it is still being brought to an early conclusion. Fuller also discussed the hope that the unique streaming format could offer future opportunities for renewal, though he does not think that it is especially likely.

Evil stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter & Aasif Mandvi discuss the new cases in season 4, some of the new demons, and their thoughts on the Antichrist.

Few other streaming original IP shows receive four seasons, let alone the additional four episodes that Evil season 4 was granted to wrap the show’s narrative. The long run is an extremely positive sign for the franchise, as are its critical scores. It currently sits at a 96% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85% audience score, proving that it can satisfy average viewers and professionals alike. The Evil season 3 ending provided additional momentum, which was unfortunately halted by the surprise cancelation.

There is a chance that the show could be picked up by another network. The show saw immense success when episodes appeared on Netflix, so the platform could theoretically offer to revive the show. Netflix already agreed to revive You, a Lifetime show, which became a massive franchise for the streaming giant. The Evil show already moved from CBS to Paramount+, proving its viability. Unfortunately, there has been no word that Netflix is interested in securing additional funding for a revival. News about a potential revival is likely to wait until after the Evil finale.
