Warning! SPOILERS about Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 7 ahead.

Mike and Ian’s somber talk about lines they didn’t believe could be crossed in Mayor of Kingstown season 3 directly referenced another talk, foreshadowing a potentially destructive future for one character in particular. Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 7 began with one of the most nefarious acts ever witnessed in the drama series. The brutal killing of the girls being smuggled into the US by Konstantin took the episode’s focus, especially considering that everything pointed to the bus being purposely knocked off the bridge instead of a tragic accident, no matter how Mike told KPD to frame the disaster.

While most knew the accident didn’t happen by chance, instead being a targeted attack on Konstantin’s operation, a culprit wasn’t identified by the end of Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 7. Not having a clear perpetrator made the situation more unstable, as anyone could be the instigator, making anybody a potential enemy not knowing who among them was capable of such atrocities. Although the entire town was rattled by the accident, some took it worse than others. Ian and Mike’s direct involvement in the investigation caused them to be affected, but someone else took it even worse than them.

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4: Will It Happen? Everything We Know

The Paramount+ original series Mayor of Kingstown stars Jeremy Renner and has enjoyed three seasons thus far, but will there be a season 4?

Mike & Ian’s Talk In Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Episode 7 Directly References Iris’s “Line” Sentence

Despite Discussing Different Lines, The Talks Are Perfectly Consequential

Learning about the victims’ last moments was trying for Mike and Ian, leading to their talk right before Mike visited Bunny about criminals in Kingstown who move the “line” of what misdeeds are considered acceptable. Ian and Mike’s attitude is defeated, leading to Mike admitting that maybe there never was a line, and they created it because they hoped for the best, not picking up on what reality showed them, that there was no line the people they dealt with wouldn’t have crossed. Surprisingly, Ian and Mike’s talk mirrors a conversation Mike had with Iris before learning about the accident.

Although talking about different things, the exchanges were two sides of the same coin. Iris admitting to knowing how much to party to keep playing the part convincingly aimed to calm Mike, and it clearly delimited her mission. At the same time, Ian and Mike’s talk led them to realize there was no such delimitation, making the line they always believed uncrossable a figment of their imagination, created to make sense of a violent world. Ian and Mike’s realization subtly hints at a terrible fate for Iris, as she also believed a line existed that she knew not to cross.

The Bus Accident Evidently Distressed Iris In Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3

This Could Drive Her Attention Away From The Mission

Mayor of Kingstown season 3 clearly established Mike overprotecting Iris as backfiring, however, he didn’t check with her in the accident aftermath, despite seeing her visibly shaken, to the point that Konstantin had to grab her to return her to the car. Iris didn’t settle after she returned to Cavo with Konstantin, still being unable to think about anything unrelated to the accident. Mayor of Kingstown has yet to explain Iris’s backstory, but she likely saw her past self in those girls, especially considering her and Mike’s exchange at the police station in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6.

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Just Proved Why Mike Was Iris’ Biggest Obstacle

Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 5 proved Iris’s wish to help Mike and her success as a spy, thus hinting Mike had always been Iris’s obstacle.

Iris’s loss of focus was evident. Konstantin himself noticed how unaffected by fear Iris was, as she refused to obey him and look away from the news report, unable to deal with what feelings the accident stirred in her. This could greatly impact Iris’s ability to continue her mission successfully, putting her in grave danger if that were to be compromised. Roman already noticed Iris’s frequent calls. If Iris were to take a wrong step in such an already dangerous situation, revealing her true objectives, she could face a worse fate than Tatiana in Mayor of Kingstown.

Mayor of Kingstown is a drama-thriller series starring Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, who takes over for his brother as the head of the family. The McLusky family are power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
