Justice League Dark’s Zatanna Zatara is back, starring in her very own Black Label comic series that follows the beloved magic user to Las Vegas. This new series brings an updated costume for Zatanna, offering perfect inspiration for dedicated cosplayers and those looking to spice up Z’s iconic look.

Mariko Tamaki and Javier Rodríguez’s Zatanna: Bring the House Down #1 kicks off a new series starring one of the most beloved magic-users in the DC Universe. However, instead of the badass, magic-wielding Justice League Dark member fans are used to, they see Zatanna trying to live an ordinary life, performing sleight-of-hand stage acts at “the crappiest hotel and casino in Las Vegas instead of real magic.

While fans await the reveal of the childhood trauma that led her to shun magic, they get to enjoy her stage performance in this inaugural issue, complete with a rocking costume upgrade.

Zatanna Zatara’s New Las Vegas Costume Steals the Spotlight in Zatanna: Bring the House Down #1

Zatanna’s Las Vegas outfit is initially teased on one of her show posters in her bedroom. However, fans don’t get a full view of her magician attire until later in the comic, when she bursts onto the stage during one of her sleight-of-hand performances. Her costume retains the timeless appeal of her classic look while introducing a fresh, distinctly Vegas twist. Like her usual attire, this costume features her trademark top hat, fishnet leggings, white button-up shirt, and suit jacket with tailcoats. However, the differences between her classic and Vegas costumes become apparent in the details.

Zatanna: Bring the House Down reintroduces her golden underbust bustier, a departure from her typical grayscale looks. However, the Vegas version is adorned with intricate black thread embroidery, adding a more showy flair. Another notable update is the introduction of purple elements: the ribbon on her top hat and the lining of her jacket both feature this color. Perhaps the most striking change in Zatanna’s Vegas outfit is her footwear, which trades her usual thigh-high black boots for stiletto heels resembling old-timey black and white butler shoes.
