Avengers: Endgame was split into three distinct acts, which saw the surviving Avengers formulate a plan to collect the Infinity Stones during the Time Heist, then embark on the Time Heist itself, and finally battle Thanos in a huge final showdown. This meant that every moment had meaning and purpose, all except for one sequence, which stood out like a sore thumb. According to a new Multiverse Saga theory, however, Marvel Studios has the perfect opportunity to fix this glaring issue with Avengers: Endgame, and debut an exciting new team in the MCU’s Phase 6.

Marvel Still Hasn’t Redeemed Itself From Endgame’s A-Force Tease

During the epic Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame, a group of the MCU’s female heroes banded together to help Captain Marvel get the Infinity Gauntlet to safety. This moment referenced the formation of A-Force, an all-female superhero team who first joined forces in Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars event in 2015. Unfortunately, Endgame’s A-Force tease had little meaning in the movie’s final battle, so what should have been a moment of female empowerment and strength simply felt like pandering.

There was no reason for the MCU’s female heroes to come together during the Battle of Earth, particularly since Captain Marvel, as one of the franchise’s most powerful characters, didn’t need help securing the Infinity Gauntlet. After years of female heroes being sidelined in the MCU, it was nice to see them share a brief moment on screen, but it would have been even more impactful had this moment been set up properly, or explained fully. While this might have failed in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios could borrow this idea in the MCU’s future.

Phase 6 Could Include A Multiversal A-Force Team: MCU Theory Explained

One clear way that Marvel Studios could redeem Avengers: Endgame’s embarrassing A-Force tease would be to bring together an official version of the team. While there might not be much cause for this team to come together in the MCU’s primary continuity, the exploration of the multiverse means a version of the A-Force team could be formed comprising variant female heroes from various realities. Marvel Studios has set up a number of powerful superhero teams for Phase 6’s Avengers movies, and A-Force would be a formidable inclusion.

While Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel led the group in Endgame, Lashana Lynch’s version of the hero, or even her iteration of Binary from The Marvels, could lead the multiversal A-Force team. She could be joined by the likes of Captain Carter, various heroes from What If…?, including Kahhori, Nova Corps’ Nebula, or the heroic Hela, and even heroes from other, non-MCU franchises. This could bring back Jessica Alba’s Sue Storm, following her recent wishes to return to the role, could redeem Sydney Sweeney’s Spider-Woman from Madame Web, and could even feature female members of Fox’s X-Men team.

A Multiversal A-Force Team Could Have Real Meaning In The MCU

Where Avengers: Endgame’s A-Force team had little cause to come together, Marvel Studios could provide an actual explanation for a multiversal group of female heroes to join forces. Perhaps Kang the Conqueror and his variants, or another powerful multiversal villain, killed several realities’ male superheroes in a series of battles, leaving the women to avenge them. In Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars, the A-Force team was the protector of the matriarchal society of Arcadia, so the MCU’s multiversal A-Force team could call back to these comic origins.

By the time Endgame released in 2019, Marvel Studios still hadn’t introduced a huge number of strong female heroes, so the movie’s A-Force team felt lacking. Using the multiverse, however, means that a much larger roster of female heroes can be included in the A-Force team, especially since even more female heroes have debuted in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. Marvel Studios could debut a more formidable line-up that could actually do some good and hold their own against the MCU’s own superhero teams, fully redeeming the team after Avengers: Endgame.
