The recently released comedy-drama Fly Me To The Moon has earned Channing Tatum his career second-best audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by Greg Berlanti, the Apple period rom-com follows the relationship between Kelly Jones, an NYC ad executive, and Cole Davis, a NASA director. These two must work together to sell the moon landing to both the public and skeptical members of Congress. Tatum and Scarlett Johansson play Davis and Jones respectively, and the other Fly Me To The Moon cast members include such names as Jim Rash, Colin Woodell, and Woody Harrelson.

Now, following the recent release of Fly Me To The Moon in theaters, the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes has calculated an audience score for the movie out of reviews given by more than 100 verified users. The movie currently boasts an impressive audience score of 88%, coming up as a career-high for Channing Tatum and falling just shy of 2022’s comedy drama Dog.

How Does Fly Me To The Moon’s Audience Score Compare To Its Critics?

Commonly, audiences and critics tend to have conflicting opinions or views about movies or TV shows. While critics might be more interested in the nuanced aspects of a movie or show, audiences tend to gravitate towards a movie or show as long as it’s largely enjoyable, regardless of the numerous flaws it might have. This is why there are several cases where movies get critically panned and go ahead to enjoy huge success at the box office. Tatum’s Fly Me To The Moon is one of such cases where critics and audiences have dissenting opinions about the movie.

The Apple Original movie Fly Me to the Moon might be loosely based on the historic Apollo 11 moon landing, but it changes aspects of the true story.

As earlier mentioned, Fly Me To The Moon currently boasts an audience score of 88%, while its critical score is a fairly lower 68%. Aside from a few of Fly Me To Moon’s shortcomings, one major thing that most audiences and critics seem to agree on regarding the rom-com is Johansson and Tatum’s screwball chemistry. It’s one of the movie’s major driving forces, even when it sometimes seems like everything else around them is puzzling. Fly Me To The Moon’s impressive soundtrack also helps the movie’s overall appeal, providing a suiting backdrop to this charming rom-com that sometimes flatters to deceive.
