Warning! Spoilers ahead for Batman #150!When hell comes to the DC Universe, Batman has faith that one Titan can help turn things in the heroes’ favor. After months of planning, Amanda Waller is springing into action and launching a full-scale assault against the Earth’s metahumans.

Waller’s first wave already has the heroes on the ropes. Even the Dark Knight is running scared as Task Force VII drains his friends’ powers and arrests metahumans in droves. But ever the forward-thinking, Batman hightails it to Titans Tower in hopes of finding the one hero who can hopefully stop Waller from going too far in her quest for absolute power.

Batman Believes Cyborg is the DC Universe’s Best Shot at Stopping Waller

In Batman #150’s backup story “Brick by Brick” by Chip Zdarsky, Mike Hawthorne, Adriano Di Benedetto, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Clayton Cowles, Batman reflects on the state of the world. He thinks about how his robotic contingency Failsafe has been acquired by Amanda Waller along with six Amazos that are currently de-powering heroes en masse. Batman is determined to stop Failsafe and makes his way to Bludhaven and stakes out Titans Tower. He notes that the building is buzzing with energy and that the Titans’ greatest asset Cyborg is still inside.

Batman makes his way inside Titans Tower and discovers Cyborg caught in a tangle of wires and cables. Cyborg is fighting a virus sent by Waller and he’s just barely holding it off. Bruce asks Victor if he’s learning anything from the attack and Cyborg comes to the horrifying realization that Waller is in possession of a Mother Box. But before Victor can reveal any more, the tower is invaded by Paradise Lost, the Amazo that sapped Wonder Woman of her powers and strength.

Batman does his best to keep Cyborg safe and confronts Paradise Lost head-on. Unfortunately, the Amazo moves way too fast for Batman to stop it. The Dark Knight fights on, noting that Victor must be protected at all costs, calling Cyborg “the key to stopping this. Unfortunately, Cyborg steps in to assist Batman and Paradise Lost is able to both throw Batman out of Titans Tower and disarm Cyborg. Paradise Lost secures Cyborg and jets off to rejoin Waller as Batman looks on helplessly.

Waller Controls the DC Universe’s Last Remaining Super-Team

After returning home from Earth-3, the home of the Crime Syndicate, Waller was determined to stop all metahumans at all costs. Waller worked with the mysterious Council of Light and began making moves to gain the power she’d need to see her plans through. It took a while, but eventually, during the “Beast World” calamity, Waller manipulated events so that she would become the head of the Bureau of Sovereignty. With unquestionable political power at her disposal, Waller began searching for the final assets she needed.

At the same time, Gotham was being overtaken by Failsafe, a robot Batman had created as part of ae contingency plan. The android was possessed by Zur-En-Arrh, Batman’s backup persona, and used to establish a fascist order in Gotham where criminals were arrested in droves. Batman and the Bat-Family were able to stop Zur-En-Arrh and purge his mind from the Failsafe body. Unfortunately, the robot was seized by the military and wound up in Waller’s possession, along with six Amazos Zur-En-Arrh procured.

Waller had Failsafe and the Amazos repaired and finally launched her endgame. Waller unleashed dozens of AI-generated videos that showed heroes attacking innocent civilians. To combat the narrative, the heroes hit the streets, unwittingly walking right into Waller’s trap. Waller unleashed her robots, rechristened as Task Force VII, and had the Amazos drain every metahuman they came into contact with of their powers. Heroes as powerful as Superman, Wonder Woman, and even Doctor Fate were all stripped of their abilities and either arrested or forced to go on the run.

Batman is Correct – Cyborg Does Have the Power to Save the Day

Cyborg Fighting Off Waller's Virus DC

Cyborg was one of the first heroes Waller tried to take out when her AI videos hit the web, and for good reason. During “Beast World”, Victor stopped Waller from ordering drone strikes on thousands of innocent animal-human hybrids by hacking into the United States military. Waller was incensed at Cyborg’s actions and got back at him by laying much of the “Beast World” chaos at his and the rest of the Titans’ feet. But that exhibition of power reveals the extent of Cyborg’s power and how he could help turn things around.

Cyborg has only grown stronger in the last few years. Victor even boasted in a recent issue of Titans that the moment he steps into a room, he can download every piece of information in it in a second. Cyborg is arguably the most powerful tech hero in the DC Universe and that makes him a real threat to Waller. More specifically, her Amazos. During Absolute Power #1, Paradise Lost revealed that the Amazos all shared a hive mind and that could put the entirety of Task Force VII in danger.

Both Batman and Waller know that Cyborg has incredible computing power at his disposal. If he manages to penetrate one of the Amazos’ defense systems, there’s a good chance he could shut every single one down and possibly reverse their damage returning the stolen powers to their heroes. Unfortunately, Waller was able to get to Victor before Bruce could and now Cyborg’s on his way to Waller’s metahuman prison. But if Batman can mount a proper rescue, the DC Universe has a shot of surviving Absolute Power.

Cyborg with Justice League Burning DC

Saving Cyborg is harder than it sounds. Aside from the threat of Task Force VII hanging over the heads of every metahuman, Waller and her assets are hidden away, protected by soldiers and other contingencies. There are a few heroes out there that still have powers, such as the Flash. But it’s going to take all their efforts to break Cyborg out. But every available hero is going to have to pitch in because Batman alone isn’t going to be able to save the one Titan who can stop Amanda Waller.
