“OH MY GLOB!” The beloved animated series Adventure Time has been adapted into several different comics, typically starring the iconic Finn and Jake, but one arc of Adventure Time finally saw Lumpy Space Princess as the hero she was destined to be. While often seen as the gossipy, obnoxious pest Lumpy Space Princess’ flaws can sometimes grow into strengths, which she used to defeat the villainous alien Mnemonoid.

Lumpy Space Princess, or LSP, is the princess and future queen of Lumpy Space, although the other princesses of Ooo often reject her because of her dramatic, annoying behavior.

Adventure Time Comic Mnemenoid 2

Adventure Time #31 – #34, from writer Ryan North and artist Shelli Paroline, follows Finn as he battles against the memory-stealing story-eating Mnemonoid across his long life before he has the brilliant idea to use LSP as an endless source of story food for the alien.

Lumpy Space Princess’ Gossip Saved All Of Ooo

The Mnemonoid is one of the most fascinating villains in Adventure Time lore, mainly because of his ability to break the 4th wall, a rare occurrence in Ooo’s mythos. Of course, with the inclusion of Prismo’s realm and the established concept of an Adventure Time Multiverse, it makes sense that some creatures can see beyond the comic page, but it’s still a surprise to see the Mnemonoid speak outside the panel. The Mnemonoid is an unidentified alien that devours stories as its source of nourishment, deciding to steal years’ worth of Finn’s memories to satiate his unique appetite.

The comic arc is an interesting glimpse into a possible future for Finn and the denizens of Ooo before Old Man Finn and Bubblegum use an updated version of PB’s time machine to travel back in time. As the Mnemonoid attacks the Treehouse for the first time, Old Man Finn puts his plan into motion, instigating a neverending supply of gossip from LSP by asking her about the drama between her friends Corey and Melissa. LSP’s talent for gossip is the perfect meal for the Mnemonoid, who apologizes to Finn after realizing LSP’s stories are all the food he needs to survive.

The Citizens Of Ooo Can Never Complain About LSP’s Gossip Again

Unsurprisingly, Lumpy Space Princess’ antics often annoy and frustrate her friends – and foes – as she seems incapable of being quiet or not trying to make everything about her. However, after LSP’s gossipy attitude saves Finn, and potentially all of Ooo, from the insatiable hunger of the Mnemonoid, it would appear that the citizens of Ooo should never complain about her again. The things that make LSP appear so annoying can also be her greatest strengths, as evidenced by her accidental defeat of the Mnemonoid.

Lumpy Space Princess of Adventure Time fame is known for her intense, selfish attitude and obsession with gossip and attention. Thankfully, her tiring behavior eventually saves Finn from the machinations of the Mnemonoid, once again proving LSP’s utility to the people of Ooo.
