I’m so excited to see One Piece‘s new team-up after seeing how well these characters were adapted to the screen in its first season. One Piece‘s 2023 live-action cast brought many of the anime’s original characters to life in spectacular fashion in an exciting new adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s iconic work. Though One Piece‘s live-action adaptation has not come without criticism, the translation of characters from animation to screen is one of its biggest successes.

One Piece‘s first season focused on the formation of the Straw Hat pirate crew as they followed Luffy’s (Iñaki Godoy) desire to become King of the Pirates. Along the way, the Straw Hats encounter several bumps in the road in the form of other established pirates and the Marines, who all try to put an end to Luffy’s adventures before they even begin. One Piece‘s second season will see them head toward the elusive Grand Line. However, one scene in season 1’s finale suggests that two of Luffy’s enemies will team up to ensure that his quest for the one piece fails.

Buggy & Alvida Will Team Up In One Piece Season 2

The Loguetown Arc Will Finally Happen In The Next Season

Before Luffy and the Straw Hats set off for the Grand Line, Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward) and Alvida (Ilia Isorelys Paulino) express their mutual disgust for Luffy and his overly cheery wanted poster. This moment hints at an exciting new plotline in One Piece, which suggests that Buggy and Alvira will feature once again as villains in One Piece season 2 and will team up to try and take down the Straw Hats. Though nothing was set in stone, the confirmation of Jeff Ward and Ilia Isorelys Paulino’s return to the live-action adaptation makes this new team-up seem all the more promising.

In the original anime series, Buggy and Alvida band together to create the Buggy and Alvida Alliance and become another threat in the Straw Hat’s quest for supremacy following their initial defeats. They are particularly problematic for the Straw Hat pirates in Loguetown and beyond, as they constantly attempt to thwart Luffy’s plans. Although the Loguetown storyline was left out of One Piece‘s first season due to time and narrative constraints, its confirmed inclusion in season 2 makes me so excited to see what Buggy and Alvida will do next.

Alvida & Buggy Were Two Of One Piece Live-Action’s Best Characters

They Make The Future Of One Piece More Exciting

One of the best things about One Piece‘s live-action adaptation is its casting. No expense was spared in the casting department, with every actor seeming to lift these extravagant characters off the screen and into this colorful world of piracy. Despite being one of the show’s villains, Buggy the Clown was one of One Piece‘s biggest stars. Jeff Ward’s portrayal of the complex character brought an online storm that only seemed to make people love this villainous character more. The same goes for Ilia Isorelys Paulino’s performance as Alvida, who made an incredible first impression as Luffy’s first nemesis.

One Piece season 1’s condensed storyline meant that Buggy and Alvida were not significantly featured in its main plot. However, their inclusion was an important set-up for the live-action adaptation’s future, as Buggy and Alvida will become increasingly important figures in the Straw Hat’s journey. Even with their limited screen time, I’m so happy that these characters were able to translate on-screen as well as they did. As a result, it makes me even more excited about what season 2, and the future of the One Piece live-action adaptation holds.
