After a spectacular first two episodes that perfectly set up the 2.5D Stage Play Arc, Oshi no Ko season 2 episode #3 will decide whether Tokyo Blade’s stage play will be able to take off at all amidst the current script overhaul. Oshi no Ko‘s latest season is already dialing up the drama as the author of Tokyo Blade shockingly demands that the entire script be re-written, putting rehearsals on hold indefinitely.

What Happened In Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode #2?

Season 2 episode #2 of Oshi no Ko begins with a flashback to the first cast meeting for the Tokyo Blade stage play where Aqua and Ruby encounter Melt who declares he has been working hard since the filming of Sweet Today nine months prior and asks the two to point out any of his mistakes.

Aqua, Ruby, and Melt are then introduced to the Lala Lai actors including Akane and Himekawa, the latter of which leaves a bad first impression with his laidback demeanor and inability to remember his role as the protagonist. As Akane thanks Aqua for his help during the reality TV show while Melt and Ruby watch the two speak from afar, with Ruby appearing visibly grossed out. Melt and Ruby discuss how Aqua and Akane seem to get along, as well as the fact that Akane will be playing Aqua’s fiancée in the play, a fact Ruby again does not seem to be a fan of.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 Already Teased How It Will Redeem Season 1’s Most Disappointing Character

Oshi no Ko Season 1 was a spectacular event, but one character was destined to get a weak start which promises to be fixed in Season 2.

The episode then cuts to Tokyo Blade‘s author Abiko Samejima sharing a meal with Yoriko Kichijouji, the author of Sweet Today. Abiko invites Yoriko to see the rehearsals for the stage play with her shortly after which the episode returns to the present where Abiko refuses to give the script the green light. The episode perfectly explains the process of how an author requests changes to a script and how the meaning of the request can often get lost as the information is passed through multiple middlemen between the author and scriptwriter, much like a game of telephone.

Unhappy that the changes she requested were not honored, Abiko declares she will write the script herself and asks for Goa to be completely removed from the equation after questioning his talent as a writer and whether he had read Tokyo Blade at all. Episode #2 of Oshi no Ko then ends with Akane and Aqua heading out on a date to watch a play to help him better understand what a play on a stage-around is like, and hopefully ignite a new love for theater in him.

There Is Still Hope for Abiko and Goa To Reach an Understanding

Despite Abiko’s insults, episode #2 of Oshi no Ko paints Goa in a rather sympathetic light, depicting the amount of effort he put into Tokyo Blade‘s script, including reading the original manga, and working late nights to accommodate Abiko’s difficult-to-understand requests. The upcoming episode will hopefully highlight Goa’s strengths as a scriptwriter while also seeing Abiko and Goa coming to an understanding and working on the script together.

This cooperation will be crucial to Tokyo Blade’s success as a stage play and will hopefully address Akane’s concerns over Sayahime’s character which she brought up in the previous episode. Hopefully, the date with Akane will also help Aqua appreciate theater and give his role as Touki the best he’s got just like the rest of the cast. Regardless, Season 2 of Oshi no Ko is shaping up to be just as interesting as the first, and episode #3 is certainly one to look out for next week.

Don’t miss Oshi no Ko season 2 episode #3 when it airs on HIDIVE on July 17, 2024.
