Old Man Logan Comes To Life With Disney Magic in Newest Marvel Reimagining

This one-shot will be putting a Disney twist on the classic Wolverine story, Old Man Logan. It is also said to pay tribute to the iconic Marvel hero’s history and greatest moments, from his time in the Weapon X program to his adventures with the Uncanny X-Men. The preview for the series above shows Mickey as Hawkeye, interacting with Old Man Donald, giving a peek at the “Disney-fication” of the fan-favorite story arc. The synopsis is as follows:

Travel to the near future where chaos rules as Pete-Skull transforms Duckburg into a super-hero-less wasteland. Only Old Donald Duck can turn the tide, but he’s given up his battling days and prefers naps and his grandma’s apple pie over fighting villains.

When Mickey-Hawkeye comes knocking at the door with Goofy-Hulk at his side, Donald-Wolverine has to make a choice! Will a trip down memory lane change his mind to save the world? Or will the lure of the backyard hammock and a long nap keep him from popping his claws one last time?

In addition to Mickey Mouse, Goofy will also be making an appearance as Hulk, though his design is not featured in the preview. Also notable from the synopsis is the presence of Pete-Skull, who will likely be the Disney variant of Red Skull. The classic villain played an integral role in eliminating many of Marvel’s heroes and taking over the alternate version of America on Earth-21923 in Old Man Logan. However, there will be distinct differences considering it’s this version of the hero will leave less of a blood trail behind him as he takes on his reimagined foes.

Donald & Wolverine Could Prove Surprisingly Complimentary to One Another

While unexpected, Marvel’s Disney merger of Donald Duck/Wolverine and Mickey Mouse/Hawkeye could prove surprisingly intriguing. Logan is known for his high levels of violence, effectiveness in the field, and no-nonsense approach. The trait he and Donald most have in common is their potential anger. With that base and a friendlier twist on the story, Donald’s reimagined life as Wolverine might be a refreshing and genuinely fun twist. The iconic duck is celebrating his 90th anniversary and has been imaged as a hero before – the Duck Avenger. Now, Donald Duck will step into the shoes of one of Marvel’s best with great allies like Mickey’s Hawkeye at his side.

Marvel and Disney: What If…? Donald Duck Became Wolverine #1 will be available July 31 from Marvel Comics.

Wolverine

The human mutant Wolverine (a.k.a. Logan) was born James Howlett, blessed with a superhuman healing factor, senses, and physiology. Subjecting himself to experimentation to augment his skeleton and claws with adamantium, Logan is as deadly as he is reckless, impulsive, and short-tempered. Making him the X-Men’s wildest and deadliest member, and one of Marvel Comics’ biggest stars.
