While not yet confirmed, a Teen Titans movie has been rumored and feels inevitable in the upcoming DC Universe. With so much comic lore and history to draw from and so many excellent characters to integrate, a successful Teen Titans adaptation could be a fun and accessible introduction to a number of wonderful heroes. Considering everything known about Teen Titans in the DCU, the project is surprisingly far in development and may even shoot later this year. This is despite no official announcement from DC Studios confirming the project.

While figures like Robin and Speedy have been mainstays with the team, and others like Starfire have made great names for themselves in various DC shows, there are many other characters to introduce. Considering James Gunn’s affinity to draw from the weird and wild comic book stories, several characters come to mind that feel well-suited to the upcoming universe. With a comic book history dating back to 1964 and various animated and live-action shows to pull from, audiences can expect a mixture of heroes, old and new, when the upcoming DC release eventually comes together.

Crush Would Be A Great Way To Introduce Lobo’s Lore Into The DCU

Xiomara Rojas First Appeared In The Comics In 2018

With Lobo an increasingly possible prospect in the new DCU, likely played by Jason Momoa, introducing his daughter Xiomara Rojas would make a lot of sense. A wild, intergalactic figure with similar charm and spunk to her bounty-hunting father, Rojas took on the name Crush and fought alongside the Teen Titans.

Featuring half-human half-alien powers that give her abilities including accelerated healing and superhuman strength, Crush would make sense in James Gunn’s new universe, which has clear cosmic aspects given the likes of Green Lantern already being confirmed for the DCU. Brash, violent, and often getting in deeper than she can handle, this hotheaded character would add a great deal of charm and spunk to the universe. Pulling from recent comics, she could help to bring Lobo and his galactic ties into the universe.

Miss Martian Is A Great Hero With Huge World-Building Potential

M’gann M’orzz First Featured In The Comics In 2006

Tangentially related to Martian Manhunter, M’gann would be an excellent hero for the DCU. Created to fill in a hole when the writer could not use Supergirl, Miss Martian has since become a popular character after being introduced in the comics. She has since been featured in the Arrowverse and various animated series.

Miss Martian is a White Martian with incredible strength and near invulnerability. Alongside the cosmic stories that are bound to be told in stories like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, an introduction to her and her kin could be well executed. The character would then be able to integrate effectively in the universe as a member of the new Teen Titans.

Bunker Has Fascinating Powers & Batman Family Ties

Miguel Barragan First Appeared In The Comics In 2011

A Mexican hero with the power to generate barriers from pink energy, Bunker would make Sense in the DCU. More than just having a cool-looking power that would translate well to screen, Bunker has links to the Bat Family, as his origin came out of a search for Red Robin.

Since then, Bunker has worked under the tutelage of Red Hood and has gone on to lead the Teen Titans. Introducing the character in the DCU could allow exposure to more newer heroes while still retaining links to Batman and the Bat-Family. A Teen Titans movie will need those links in characters like Nightwing and Robin, but adding heroes like Bunker beside them would keep the project feeling fresh and original.

Impulse Could Allow The Flash’s Legacy To Persist Without Rushing To Another Flash Film

Bart Allen Appeared In DC Comics Beginning In 2018

Following the box office disappointment of The Flash, it does not seem likely that the beloved hero will be introduced in the DC Universe very soon. However, speedsters are a component of DC storytelling that must be represented in one form or another in the universe. An effective way to do this would be by adding Impulse, Barry Allen’s grandson from the distant future.

With Booster Gold confirmed for the DCU, there are plans to play with timelines to some extent. By traveling in time, the whole continuity of Flash characters could be explored, beginning with a fresh, young face. With his powers and fun, youthful presence, Bart Allen would make an excellent addition to the upcoming Teen Titans roster.

Levi Kamei Could Tie Into The World Of Swamp Thing

The Character First Became Swamp Thing In 2021

An avatar for the Green introduced in recent comics, the Levi Kamei iteration of Swamp Thing would be an excellent addition to the Teen Titans roster. While little is known about the upcoming James Mangold Swamp Thing movie, it seems unlikely to focus on the Levi Kamei version. Expansions to that world and its characters are then crucial to the cohesion of the DC Universe. Levi Kamei would be an excellent additional character linked with the Green outside of that film.

With a series of plant-based powers including metamorphosis and the ability to move his consciousness to any plant in existence, Levi’s unusual powers could make for compelling visual storytelling, especially since he is also able to generate wings that allow him to fly. He has fought within the Titans previously and would make for an excellent, unusual character for the universe.

Beast Boy Has a Relationship With Nightwing And Needs A Definitive Interpretation

Garfield Logan First Appeared In The Comics In 1965

Few characters are as beloved and yet as underexplored in DC movies as Beast Boy. A shapeshifter with the ability to change his body, the character’s powers have been explored in several versions of Teen Titans series in comics, animation, and live-action. Despite this, the character has never been featured in a big screen, live-action feature.

Having held long-running friendships with several young heroes including Nightwing, Beast Boy is one character who would be ideal to include in the DCU both for his connections to other characters and his own story and powers, especially as there is so much comic book material that can be pulled from for the hero. Funny and a little strange, Beast Boy is well suited to be a major figure in any Teen Titans story in the DCU.

Fixit Could Tell Cyborg Stories Without DCEU Baggage

Fixit First Appeared In The Teen Titans TV Series In 2003

One of the more obscure figures in DC’s history, Fixit played a small role in DC television with telepathic powers and excellent repair abilities. The hero is a strange figure who has been living underground with a number of robots, and who fixes Cyborg after an accident leaves him debilitated.

This would not be the first time a hero was pulled from an animated series: Harley Quinn originally started as a Batman: The Animated Series villain, before becoming one of DC’s most popular characters. Following this, Fixit, a powerful robot with a strange disposition, could easily make the jump to live action. Following in the tradition of unusual characters like Rocket Raccoon and King Shark, Fixit would make an excellent member of the DCU’s Teen Titans team without having to include Cyborg.

Osiris Could Open The Magical Side Of The Universe

Amon Tomaz Debuted In DC Comics In 2006

Following the disappointment of Black Adam and the disastrous box office failure of Shazam: Fury of the Gods, films centered on those characters in the DCU seem unlikely in the near future. However, elements and characters from their world could easily come into play in the expansion of the DC Universe. As such, Osiris feels ideal for inclusion in the upcoming Teen Titans movie.

Often an ally of Black Adam, Osiris has powers connected to Egyptian deities and can transform his body in and out of his superpowered form. Through Isis, Osiris can project lightning on top of his other increased powers that are otherwise similar to Shazam. The magic of the gods explored in Shazam and its sequel could be brought into the DCU through this frightening and influential member of the Teen Titans team, allowing the franchise to explore this corner of its lore without necessarily having to reuse DCEU figures.

Wonder Girl Is The Daughter Of Zeus And Could Feature Heavily In Paradise Lost

Cassie Sandsmark Debuted In The Comics In 1996

Various heroes have taken on the mantle of Wonder Girl over the years. The original incarnation of the hero was just a younger version of Diana herself, before evolving into other distinct entities. While versions of Wonder Girl seem inevitable for the team, the Cassie Sandsmark version would be best suited to the DCU.

Cassie’s backstory sees her as the daughter of Zeus with superpowers often gained from magical artifacts and a lasso. A demigoddess, her mother being human allows the telling of unique stories surrounding Wonder Girl and differentiates her from Wonder Woman. With Wonder Woman adjacent stories set to begin in Paradise Lost, ties to that world through Cassie would be an excellent way to use her in Teen Titans and the larger universe.

Golden Eagle Could Tie Into Hawkgirl’s DCU Story

Ch’al Andar Appeared In The Comics In 1989

While Hawkgirl is planned to be introduced in James Gunn’s Superman played by Isabela Merced, there is little information about future plans for that character. Due to Merced’s young age, she could even contend for a role in the Teen Titans movie herself. Alongside her, however, Golden Eagle would be an excellent addition to the universe. With golden wings and Thanagarian powers, the character could help to examine Hawkgirl’s backstory.

Known as Charley Parker on Earth, Golden Eagle is half-human, half-Thangarian. This physiological difference from the other Thangarians could make the young hero an excellent entry point to explore their lore in the DC Universe. If Teen Titans wishes to succeed, it will need to do so by building on and expanding the DC Universe. With this in mind, the inclusion of this character would be an excellent way to do so with the pieces already laid.

DC Universe

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
