In the fan-favorite Elseworld, DC vs. Vampires, a legion of vampires slowly took over the Justice League and everyone else in their way. Now humanity is nothing more than a blood farm for the vampires to feed on, and humanity might just need Mister Miracle if they’re going to survive.

DC’s solicitation for September’s DC vs. Vampires: World War V #2 by Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt has a very curious choice of words. While discussing the human resistance and vampire kingdom’s relations, the synopsis specifically points out that it’ll take a “Miracle” for them to get along. While the reason for this word choice isn’t currently and totally clear, it’s possible this is a reference to the New God Mister Miracle.

So far, the vampire infection has taken nearly every major hero on Earth. Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and even Superman have all been infected and transformed. As hopeless as things seem, there are still a few characters who remain on the side of humanity, and one of them might just have the cure for this vampire infection.

Mister Miracle Could Be the One to Save the DC vs. Vampires World

Mister Miracle may not be the most popular DC hero, but he’s pretty powerful, and fans can safely assume he’s still on the side of humanity. In DC vs. Vampires #7 by Rosenberg, Schmidt, and James Tynion IV, Big Barda, Mister Miracle’s wife, is alive and well in the human refuge city. If Barda is alive, then it’s safe to assume that Mister Miracle isn’t far behind. Mister Miracle is notoriously difficult to kill, suggesting he’s still kicking around, escaping death and loving his wife. After all, in DC’s other apocalypse-scenario universe, DCeased, Mister Miracle was one of the few characters to survive a zombie ambush.

But Mister Miracle’s powers involve a lot more than just being able to escape tough situations. Mister Miracle is the personification of the very idea of freedom. Because of this, given enough time and preparation, he’s capable of escaping just about anything — including mind control, which is what the vampire infection seems to be. If Big Barda is involved in the resistance, it’s possible that Mister Miracle has been spending his time trying to come up with a way to escape the vampire infection itself, making him the most valuable hero in the world.

Does Darkseid Exist in the DC vs. Vampires Universe?

Not for nothing, Mister Miracle is also a key character in DC’s Fourth World cast, which includes his wife Barda, other heroes like Orion and Lightray, and, of course, the nefarious cosmic villain, Darkseid. If Mister Miracle is set to debut in the DC vs. Vampires world, it’s not totally impossible for Darkseid to appear before too long.

The vampires have an overwhelming number of powerful characters on their side. While characters like Superman have been killed, there are still powerful vampires like Wonder Woman who pose a massive threat. Every attempt at a cure, from Harley Quinn’s blood to the Lazarus pits, has been thwarted by the vampire army. But all hope isn’t lost, as Mister Miracle may just prove to be the last chance humanity has at surviving this brutal vampire infection established in the DC vs. Vampires Elseworld.
