The latest trailer has been released for A24’s We Live In Time. The upcoming romance film sees two people experience a serendipitous encounter, only to end up falling in love over the course of years. This central couple is played by A24 veterans Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. We Live In Time is directed by John Crowley, and features a supporting cast including Adam James, Aoife Hings, and Marama Corlett. Its script was penned by Nick Payne.

Now, A24 has released the trailer for We Live In Time. The trailer opens with the leads Alma (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield) speaking with their young daughter about something “a bit serious” as they sit at a diner.

The scene then cuts back to reveal how the two met, which occurred in a hospital waiting room after Alma hit Tobias with her car in an accident. Gradually, Alma and Tobias start spending more time together and falling in love. The trailer then spans years, as the pair have a kid together and experience life’s hardships.

We Live In Time Could Be An Award’s Success

From the trailer alone, Garfield and Pugh are ineffably charming in We Live In Time. As the trailer reminds audiences, both actors are former Oscar nominees, with Garfield having been nominated for Best Actor for Hacksaw Ridge and tick, tick…BOOM! and Pugh for Little Women. Alma and Tobias experience a tumultuous life journey over years, and with a plot so focused on the duo, the film must have great actors. It seems like the We Live In Time team has chosen well in Pugh and Garfield, hopefully leading the movie to success.

The lead actors are not the only two awards veterans attached to We Live In Time. Director Crowley previously worked on the 2015 drama Brooklyn, which was nominated for three Oscars at the time of its release. While this did not include a nomination for Best Director, Brooklyn was nominated for Best Picture, showing the strength of Crowley’s vision. It was also nominated for Best Actress for Saoirse Ronan, which is also a testament to Crowley’s strength in working with actors. Brooklyn is also a romance movie, showing the director’s penchant for the genre.

The lead acting performances and awards-associated director could be a good sign of We Live In Time‘s Oscar potential. Acting-wise, the film has everything it needs for an Oscar-worthy performance, from high drama, a multi-year span, and even a tear-inducing terminal illness plot. We Live In Time is arriving in theaters on October 11, which puts the film towards the beginning of the window for most major award releases. If coupled with strong performances, the attractive premise may just lead We Live In Time to awards success in the upcoming season.
