Star Wars Rebels ended six years ago, but Star Wars has just now revealed the fate of one of the show’s villains. Star Wars Rebels ended in 2018, but it has become increasingly important to the future of Star Wars since then. Ahsoka focuses on several of Rebels‘ heroes, like Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren, and it also introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn to live-action. While Thrawn will likely be very important to upcoming Star Wars shows like Ahsoka season 2, other Rebels villains have been all but forgotten. Luckily, Star Wars has finally given some closure to an antagonist from Rebels season 1.

Star Wars Rebels ended before it had a chance to tie up several of its loose ends, such as the fates of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. While those stories were specifically addressed towards the end of Ahsoka season 1, other characters haven’t appeared in other Star Wars shows, and their stories were left significantly more open-ended. Luckily, one Rebels character’s fate has finally been revealed years after his last appearance, and in an unlikely new source. He wasn’t the most prominent or dangerous villain in Rebels, but he had a very fitting ending.

Gall Trayvis Was Put On Trial For His Crimes Against The Rebellion

Gall Trayvis In Star Wars Rebels

Gall Trayvis was a senator who defected to the Empire and began posing as a rebel to help them hunt down insurgents. In Rebels season 1, he helped Agent Kallus and the Imperial minister of Lothal in a plot to find and eliminate the Ghost crew by drawing them into a trap. While the Ghost crew were able to escape unharmed, Trayvis never made another appearance in Rebels, and his fate was never decided. Luckily, Chris Kempshall’s “Star Wars The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire,” an in-universe history of the Empire’s reign, gave Trayvis’ story some closure.

“Following the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, Trayvis was put on trial by the New Republic where evidence was presented that he had been complicit in the imprisonment and deaths of hundreds of beings from across the galaxy.”

Clearly, Trayvis ended up paying for his crimes and the countless people he helped the Empire exterminate. It’s not clear what his sentence was, but given the severity of his crimes, it’s safe to assume that Trayvis spent quite a bit of time in prison. It is notable, though, that Trayvis seems to be an exception to the New Republic’s policy on Imperial criminals.

For the most part, the New Republic seemed quite lenient about punishing former Imperial agents and members. The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3 revealed that the New Republic had implemented the Amnesty Program, a way to reintegrate former Imperials into civilian life and let them pay for their crimes through a work program on Coruscant. Quite a few Imperials, like Penn Pershing and Elia Kane, were admitted to the program instead of facing trial for their crimes. The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, however, proved that the New Republic wasn’t entirely forgiving.

The Mandalorian is set after the Empire’s fall and before the First Order’s emergence in the ever-growing Star Wars universe. The series follows the travails of a lone gunfighter named Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. Acting as the first live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian has become incredibly popular on Disney+, partly due to Mando’s relationship with Grogu, which the internet dubbed “Baby Yoda” upon his introduction in season 1.

Based on Trayvis’ ultimate fate, it seems the New Republic did sometimes prosecute former Imperials after the end of the Galactic Civil War. Trayvis, however, was not a typical member of the Empire, and criminal trials were likely reserved for officers and Imperials who were more directly involved in the Empire’s atrocities. Trayvis was one of those especially guilty parties, and he more than deserved to be tried for all the deaths he was personally responsible for. In addition to providing some insight into the workings of the New Republic, Trayvis’ fate has finally tied up one of Star Wars Rebels‘ loose ends.
