Jigsaw had a couple of plot twists that added to John Kramer’s backstory, but it missed one final twist reveal as it never revealed who picked Eleanor Bonneville (Hannah Emily Anderson) up at the end. The Saw saga seemed to have come to an end in 2010 with Saw 3D, also known as The Final Chapter, but the franchise had a lot more to tell. The saga came back to life seven years later with Jigsaw, directed by the Spierig Brothers, and set after the events of Saw 3D and a decade after Kramer’s death.

Jigsaw follows a new “game” with five victims, but as Kramer is dead, questions arise about his impossible survival or the presence of a copycat killer. Parallel to the game, Jigsaw follows Detectives Halloran (Callum Keith Rennie) and Keith Hunt (Clé Bennett), who, alongside pathologist Logan Nelson (Matt Passmore), try to find the copycat killer, who they suspect is closer to them than they imagined. One of their suspects is Eleanor, Logan’s assistant, who, at the end of Jigsaw​​​​​​, escapes and stops a car for help, but the look on her face when the car gets closer hints at someone she knows picking her up.

Logan’s Presence Would Have Followed Jigsaw’s Double Timeline Trick

Eleanor becomes a suspect in Jigsaw when Halloran and Hunt find out that she’s a Jigsaw fan, and she spends hours visiting websites dedicated to his traps and designs. Eleanor’s fanaticism went as far as having a studio full of Jigsaw’s traps, which she bought on the dark web. Eleanor even purchased the blueprints of one of Kramer’s first experiments – the engine trap –, which was an “undiscovered” one, so she built one herself. Eleanor showed all this to Logan, earning his trust (and him earning hers) and making her a perfect target for his alibi.

At the end of Jigsaw, Eleanor sees Halloran and Logan fighting in the barn and Logan tells her to run away, so she has no idea of what happens next to them and that Logan is the Jigsaw copycat killer. Eleanor is last seen on the road signaling a car for help, but as the car approaches, her expression completely changes. This could point to Eleanor being picked up by Logan, and this scene might be one from the near future, minutes after Logan leaves the barn, rather than happening at the same time as his final monologue.

Jigsaw had the twist reveal of the games at the barn being set in the past, hence why John Kramer showed up as the mastermind behind it. The search for the copycat killer was set in the present, so in one final double timeline trick, Eleanor’s final scene might have been from the near future, with Logan driving away from the barn and picking Eleanor up, most likely claiming to her that he won the game against Halloran.

Detective Keith Hunt

Hunt Ordered Halloran’s Arrest

Perhaps the most plausible option is Detective Keith Hunt. As mentioned above, Hunt was working alongside Halloran to find the copycat Jigsaw killer, and he had previously worked with Logan, much to Halloran’s surprise. Logan knew Hunt quite well, which made it easier for him to manipulate him and make him believe Halloran could be the Jigsaw copycat killer. It was Hunt who led the search in Halloran’s home, while Halloran followed Logan and Eleanor to the barn, and he found the skin puzzle pieces from the victims in Halloran’s freezer, which Logan planted.

The skin puzzle pieces were the last piece of evidence Hunt needed to convince himself that Halloran was the copycat killer they were looking for, as Logan had previously given some pretty convincing (and manipulated) proof. Hunt ordered the arrest of Halloran, and it’s understood that he tracked Halloran’s phone to the barn.

Hunt, then, would have been on his way there to arrest Halloran while Logan and Halloran took the final test and Logan made his big reveal, while Eleanor ran for her life. Seeing Hunt driving the car would have prompted an emotional reaction from Eleanor as she knew him and he would have helped her, so it’s possible he was the one who picked her up at the end of Jigsaw.

Dr. Lawrence Gordon

Gordon Was The Only Jigsaw Apprentice Who Was Still Alive

Another possible character, who would have been a great surprise to see in Jigsaw, is Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes). Logan was Kramer’s first apprentice, but he wasn’t the only one, as there were also Amanda, Hoffman, and Gordon. The latter was revealed to be alive and to have been working with Kramer in Saw 3D, and given the timeline of events, he would have been his second apprentice (before Logan’s reveal, of course). At the end of Saw 3D, Gordon was the only one of Kramer’s apprentices to still be alive, but he now shares that spot with Logan.

Given that Eleanor was a huge Jigsaw fan, she would have definitely known who Dr. Gordon was, as he’s one of the few survivors of Jigsaw’s “games”, and his showing up at the end of Jigsaw would have been a shocking moment for her. Unfortunately, as Jigsaw never got a sequel, the mystery of who picked Eleanor up at the end will continue, so it’s up to every viewer to imagine who could have been.
