Of course, Marta comes out on top in the end. It is thrilling to watch Marta’s journey, and the balcony shot at the end of the film is extremely satisfying. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is also a great movie, but Marta Cabrera’s absence is keenly felt.

Although the Helen Brand twist is exciting, the narrative does not reveal Benoit Blanc and Helen’s partnership until halfway through the movie, leaving viewers to believe he worked alone for a good portion. Marta and Benoit Blanc worked together from the beginning, even though Marta thought she was hiding the truth from him. Detective Blanc and Marta are an iconic duo that works well together. As such, it makes sense for Marta to reappear, even if only for a few moments.

Seeing her work again with Benoit Blanc would round out Knives Out 3 and make it the perfect blend of new characters while giving audiences nostalgia over Marta’s reappearance. It would be exciting to watch Marta interact with the new cast of characters while reminding audiences how well Marta and Benoit Blanc worked together in the first place. Marta Cabrera chose nursing as a career, but her help with the case proves that she could be a detective in another life. Bringing her back to help Benoit Blanc solve an aspect of his new case would be the perfect cameo.

Having a different ensemble for each Knives Out film is a good idea. It gives Benoit Blanc exciting new cases while providing actors with the chance to be a part of this franchise. Each cast of characters brings something different to the table. The Thrombey family consists of a bunch of egotistical, selfish, privileged jerks with no respect for anyone, including each other. This dynamic is entertaining to watch because audiences get to see the Thrombeys set themselves on fire. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery also has a great cast.

Although the ensemble still consists of wealthy characters, it is a group of friends that could not be more different from each other. Besides their connection to Miles Bron, they have entirely different personalities, so spending time together is the perfect recipe for comedic mayhem. Knives Out 3 will have its own unique group of characters. However, as the Knives Out franchise expands, it becomes more odd not to bring back some beloved characters, even if it is just for cameos. The Knives Out films prove they can accomplish that, with Noah Segan appearing in both films – albeit as a different character.

Other actors from previous movies reprising their roles would be even more compelling. Hugh Grant can return as Benoit Blanc’s partner, and LaKeith Stanfield can return as Detective Elliott. It would be easy for either actor to reprise their role. Rian Johnson should keep an open mind and consider bringing back beloved characters. Regardless, Knives Out 3 is shaping into an excellent film with an exciting cast and a new mystery. Audiences miss Marta, but Benoit Blanc’s guaranteed return means that there is plenty of excitement.
