Trigun Stampede stunned viewers with its gorgeous 3DCG animation in early 2023, following the adventures of the charming Vash the Stampede, but its post-credits scenes left viewers wondering if there’d be a sequel. Luckily, the announcement of a new season of the Trigun anime project, titled Trigun Stargaze, was revealed on the Trigun anime X (formerly Twitter) account on July 4, 2024.

Labeled as the title of the “final series” by the production company Studio Orange, Trigun Stargaze is only freshly announced but will stoke fan anticipation likely for months or even years as necessary. Trigun Stampede was one of the premier anime events of the Winter 2023 season, with its beautiful 3DCG visuals and crisp, fluid animation rendering Vash in a new light. After the saga of the recent anime, leaving an amnesiac Vash in a far worse state than how he started, viewers will be curious about where his adventures take him next.

Teased in the post-credits scene of the final episode of Trigun Stampede, the sequel anime, Trigun Stargaze, may explore territory left untouched by the 1998 Madhouse original. With the bespoke teaser text in the announcement tweet reading, “A crimson figure drifting across the sand planet. Vash the Stampede returns.” there remain plenty of opportunities for adventure, involving more exploration of Plants, a character named Chronica, and Planet Gunsmoke. As the story develops, Trigun Stargaze looks to be the biggest and most exciting surprise announcement out of Summer 2024.
