One of the most interesting additions in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire wasn’t a titan, but the B.E.A.S.T. glove worn by Kong in the latter part of the film. The Legendary Pictures Monsterverse has been going strong since Godzilla debuted in 2014. Since that initial release, Kong was introduced, and the powerful King of Monsters, Godzilla, and Kong have fought together and against each other to defend the worlds above and below the Earth’s surface from dangerous threats.

However, when Kong and Godzilla are faced with a powerful new threat, in the form of the Ice Titan, Shimo, and its cruel master, the Skar King, Kong is gravely injured. Kong suffers from frost bite that could have resulted in permanent damage, but thanks to the quick thinking of those working at the gate to the Hollow Earth, an experimental gauntlet, known as the B.E.A.S.T. glove was used to repair the damage and grant Kong some augmented abilities. Although it appeared suddenly, a lot of work went into creating the B.E.A.S.T. glove before it made it to the big screen.

The Origin Of Kong’s New Weapon

The B.E.A.S.T. glove, which stands for Bio Enhanced Anatomech Seismic Thunder, was developed by the secret organization Monarch. In the wake of the battle in Hong Kong between Mechagodzilla and the unlikely duo of Godzilla and Kong, Monarch harvested parts of the destroyed mecha and began to work on projects to repurpose the incredible technology. One such project was codenamed “Project Powerhouse,” and the result was the B.E.A.S.T. glove. However, when money got tight, the glove was sent to Outpost 1 in Hollow Earth for storage with no further plans.

Fortunately, Trapper was aware of the experiment, and he was able to summon the device when it was most needed to aid Kong and help him recover from his injuries. Without the B.E.A.S.T. glove, Kong would likely have lost the use of his arm, or potentially require an amputation of the permanently damaged appendage. Whether Monarch would have ever resumed the experiment with more money is unclear, but the fact that it was stowed away quietly with very few people possessing knowledge about it suggests it would have gathered dust forever more.

Fortunately, the dire circumstances that led to the experimental device being brought onto active duty was a huge boost to Kong, and potentially the key component that helped him and Godzilla to overpower their latest rival. The B.E.A.S.T. glove is capable of a lot more than simply healing wounds and administering vital medical treatment. In addition to the healing properties of the device, it is an augmented gauntlet that uses electric currents to increase Kong’s force dramatically, allowing him to punch harder. It also increases his mobility, allowing a great and unrestricted range of motion for the Titan.

In addition, there are two more incredible uses for the B.E.A.S.T. glove, which make it so much more than a device for punching and healing. The B.E.A.S.T. glove can be used defensively as the entire device is reinforced with protective shielding materials, with much greater density towards the hand and fingertips. When defensive maneuvers are not enough, the gauntlet comes with one other offensive trait that can make Kong an even more powerful fighter. The electric currents in the glove can be repurposed to extend to the targets, which means Kong can literally punch with the force of lightning.

Thanks to Kong’s intelligence, he is able to use the B.E.A.S.T. glove to its full extent, and intentionally employ every feature of the device to gain the upper hand in a fight. This means that Kong has an advantage against most other Titans, who tend to use only their brute strength and any abilities that they naturally possess. Kong’s tactical genius combined with the B.E.A.S.T. glove make him a force of nature.

As seen in Godzilla x Kong, Kong was healed through the use of the B.E.A.S.T. glove from a bad case of frost bite with almost instant results. The extent of the healing capabilities of the device has yet to be fully explored, but there is also a potential for these chemicals to be upgraded and exchanged. Kong may be able to use chemicals to further enhance his strength, and develop immunity to other potential threats, but this is purely speculative of what could be achieved after seeing the incredible technology that is already part of the B.E.A.S.T. glove.

As the leader of Hollow Earth, Kong has an important job in protecting his Kingdom from potential threats. Now that he has the added help of the B.E.A.S.T. glove, his efforts to fight off other Titans and keep his home safe should be more effective than ever. And it would be an awful waste for this new technology to go underutilized, or simply get sidelined in future releases. The glove provides an interesting new detail for potential fights featuring Kong in the future. As a result, it’s important for Kong to learn to harness it to its full extent.

Kong is intelligent, and will likely use every tool in his arsenal to ensure he can protect his Kingdom, and now that more Great Apes like him have been discovered, he needs to have a way to distinguish himself from his people, like the Skar King’s bone whip. Kong doesn’t need to make his people into subjects that cruelly enslaves, but he can use his B.E.A.S.T. glove as a way to protect his allies and fight against more malignant threats. Ultimately, Kong’s future in the Monsterverse is certain, and with the aid of his new weapon, he will contine to be a powerful Titan after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
