With The Mandalorian & Grogu headed to the big screen, Emily Swallow addresses whether the Armorer will join Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu in their theatrical debut. Making her first appearance in the season premiere of the Disney+ series in 2019, the Armorer is the figurehead of a group of Mandalorians in the Outer Rim who keeps their ancient lore and traditions alive while molding their valuable beskar armor. As The Mandalorian season 3 brought the warriors home to Mandalore, the Armorer helped quell once-bitter feuds and reignited the planet’s fabled forges once more.

Swallow addressed whether the Armorer will join the clan of two in The Mandalorian & Grogu in an interview with Screen Rant. Despite her hopes about reprising her role, Swallow confirmed she currently doesn’t expect to appear in the feature, and no one has reached out. Check out Swallow’s full response below:

Emily Swallow: There’s always a chance.

Screen Rant: Have you heard anything yet?

Emily Swallow: No.

Screen Rant: I hope that call comes soon.

Emily Swallow: I hope so, too.

If Swallow Isn’t Bluffing, Then The Movie Is Moving Past Mandalore

Recent Star Wars Projects Have Pivoted To A Different Arc

With The Mandalorian & Grogu currently the only confirmed continuation of season 3’s story, Swallow’s comments paint an interesting picture of what the future of the franchise may be. With Din choosing to set up shop on Navarro and taking contract work from the New Republic following The Mandalorian season 3’s ending, his theatrical adventure may focus on a new, more standalone story. Furthermore, with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) vanquished, there are few notable outside threats invested in occupying Mandalore.

Ahsoka pivoted the era’s conflict from the Mandalorians to the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). It showed major recurring characters such as Carson Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) reassigned to assist with New Republic security and diverted notable characters away from Mandalore’s corner of the galaxy. Skeleton Crew’s band of young heroes seems set to further push away from Mandalorian culture, focusing instead on a lost group of young people traversing the galaxy. As such, with season 3 ending on the image of the Great Forge reignited, the Mandalorians may be left to rebuild off-screen.

While Swallow’s statement doesn’t rule out her return, it is clear that Favreau and Filoni’s vision for the era isn’t reliant on Mandalorians. Despite some divisiveness over the execution, The Mandalorian season 3 did resolve many of the ongoing loose ends that had surrounded Mandalore and its people since season 1 aired, leaving a potential bookend for their story for the time being. As such, while the Armorer will always be there to keep every warrior shining and united, The Mandalorian & Grogu may keep them from coming home for some time.
