Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece chapter #1119.One common criticism of One Piece in recent years has been that despite the Straw Hat Pirates being the main characters, most of them still can’t use Haki. The mysterious power known as Haki has become incredibly commonplace over the years to the point that nearly everyone has some form of it, and with how important the Straw Hats have become, it’s all the odder that only a few of them know Haki.

It’s always been odd that most of the Straw Hat Pirates don’t appear to know Haki, but that might finally change. One Piece chapter #1119 had a major display of power from the Straw Hat Pirates against Saint Mars of the Five Elders, and thanks to some dialogue from Luffy, Franky might have finally developed Haki.

There’s a bit of ambiguity with the line, but if it’s true, then it’s a good sign of what to expect from the Straw Hats in the final saga, going forward.

One Piece Might Have Finally Given Franky Armament Haki

An Ambiguous Line from Luffy Teases Franky May Have Used Haki in the Chapter

Luffy blows Mars away with his Gum-Gum Dawn Balloon technique

In One Piece chapter #1119, to work around the seeming immortality of the Five Elders, Luffy opted to blow Saint Mars away so they could leave in peace. To that end, Luffy had Sanji, Franky, and Bonney hit him with their attacks to help him build up force, and when Bonney was shocked to hear that they were hurting him, Luffy said it was natural since they were using Haki. Franky was one of the people Luffy was addressing there, so there is a chance that Franky has used Armament Haki.

There is a bit of ambiguity to be had there, however. In addition to how Franky has never used Haki before, while Luffy responded to Bonney’s use of plurals about people hurting Luffy, it’s not entirely clear if Luffy was referring to everyone in the scene or just Sanji and Bonney who were explicitly using Haki. It still isn’t completely confirmed that Franky was using Armament Haki in One Piece chapter #1119. That’s far too big a detail to leave up in the air, though, so ideally, a future chapter will clarify whether Franky has Haki.

Why the Straw Hat Pirates Need To Learn Haki Before One Piece Ends

The Straw Hat Pirates Need a Big Power Boost

Whether Franky truly does know Armament Haki or not, One Piece chapter #1119 only reinforces the idea that the Straw Hat Pirates all need to learn this power before the series ends. With how the series keeps introducing incredibly strong characters, to the point of Luffy not being able to hurt the Five Elders despite Gear 5, it becomes harder and harder to justify the entire crew not knowing this power, even if not every member is primarily a fighter. The Straw Hat Pirates need to all know Haki to justify dealing with the final enemies of One Piece, and ideally, that will happen soon.

However, there isn’t a good opportunity for the Straw Hats to put everything on hold and start learning Haki, but even that is easy to work around. Haki has repeatedly been shown to awaken in people in serious situations, and considering how high the stakes have gotten, the Straw Hat Pirates could easily start awakening Haki during their fights in the final saga. That’s possibly the explanation behind Franky suddenly having Armament Haki, and if everyone else follows suit, it would add a lot to One Piece as it slowly approaches its conclusion.
