Liza Colón-Zayas has shared her hopes for the future of The Bear. The FX on Hulu show, which follows the behind-the-scenes goings-on at a Chicago restaurant, stars Colón-Zayas as line cook Tina Marrero opposite Jeremy Allen White as chef Carmy Berzatto, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as manager Richie Jerimovich, Ayo Edebiri as sous-chef Sydney Adamu, Lionel Boyce as pastry chef Marcus Brooks, Abby Elliott as owner Sugar Berzatto, and Matty Matheson as handyman Neil Fak. The Bear season 4 was renewed ahead of the release of season 3, which premiered on June 26, 2024.

During a recent exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com, Colón-Zayas spoke about the show’s possible future beyond season 4. While season 5 has not been officially greenlit, the actor says she hopes The Bear will stay on the air for “at least another five years.” However, she admits that “we’re white-knuckling it,” pointing out how the current state of the restaurant industry makes long-term success difficult. Thus, while she is hopeful, she is also somewhat nervous. Read her full quote below:

The future is very fragile. You know, we’re white-knuckling it, but that’s also very real, right? Especially now, the state of everything, but especially the restaurant industry. It’s not a walk in the park. I’m nervous too. I would love to see the show potentially continue for at least another five years! But only if that’s… there’s that line that Richie had in the beginning, like, “It is a delicate ecosystem.” And I think that as long as that is inspired and nurtured then we’ll have the magic that we have. So that’s more important. Five more seasons, please!

More to come…
