Star Wars has secretly created an intriguing way for Ben Solo to return in Rey’s upcoming New Jedi Order movie, without the need for Force ghosts or resurrections. As seen in The Rise of Skywalker, it was revealed that Ben Solo and Rey were connected as a powerful dyad in the Force. As such, it’s possible that this rare bond could still be utilized in some pretty interesting ways.

In The Rise of Skywalker, a redeemed Ben Solo gave his life to revive Rey after she defeated Emperor Palpatine. In the aftermath, Rey takes the last name Skywalker at the movie’s end, a means of honoring the Skywalker legacy which Ben was a part of. Now, Rey is getting a new movie where she’ll be working to rebuild a new Jedi Order, and her bond with Ben as a dyad could potentially come into play as a means to bring Adam Driver’s character back to the Star Wars galaxy in some form.

What’s the best way to watch Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.

Rey Skywalker And Ben Solo Were A Powerful Force Dyad

“Unseen In Generations”

Rey and Kylo Ren as a Force dyad.

As confirmed by Palpatine himself when he realized what Rey and Ben truly were, a Force dyad had been unseen for generations. It was also heavily sought after by the Sith Lords due to the great power of the dyad, and they even tried artificially creating dyads themselves. However, Rey and Ben Solo’s was the first genuine and natural bond in hundreds of years.

Confirmed to be the power of life itself, Ben and Rey could access a range of unique powers and abilities in the Force. This notably included the ability to communicate and physically interact with one another despite being worlds away, as seen in both The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. However, it’s also been confirmed that the bond of a Force dyad doesn’t transcend space alone. It’s also beyond the normal conventions of time itself, as confirmed in DK’s canonical Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary.

How The Dyad’s Secret Power Could Bring Back Ben Solo For Rey’s New Star Wars Movie

Bonded Across Both Time and Space

Despite his death in Rise of Skywalker, it’s theoretically possible that Ben Solo could make a future return without being resurrected or as a Force ghost. The power of Rey’s bond with Ben Solo as a dyad could certainly result in Ben returning in the New Jedi Order movie. Whether it’s by looking back to the past with Rey having access to his memories or that a part of Ben’s spirit still resides within Rey herself, there are some interesting possibilities with the bond apparently being able to transcend time.

Being a dyad means Rey and Ben existed as one in the Force. That’s a notion that isn’t likely halted by death while one still lives, especially with a dyad being “the power of life itself”. At any rate, it will be interesting to see how a future Ben Solo might come into play in Rey’s upcoming New Jedi Order movie.

The tenth mainline installment in the Star Wars franchise is the first movie to follow the sequel trilogy, where Mark Hamill’s Luke, Carrie Fisher’s Leia, and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo gave their final farewell. After the release of The Rise of Skywalker, development on a direct sequel had become dormant as Disney shifted focus on other parts of the galaxy, namely, Disney+ shows such as The Mandalorian, Andor, and Ahsoka. However, a movie starring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023.
