The Marvel Cinematic Universe will get a new perspective through the upcoming Black Panther TV series, Eyes of Wakanda. One of the most important locations in the MCU timeline is that of Wakanda, ever since the introduction of T’Challa brought this side of the world into the on-screen universe. While Black Panther 3 is still up in the air, the MCU will soon be revisiting Wakanda in the form of Eyes of Wakanda, a new animated series coming to Disney+ later this year.

Even though details are still limited about Eyes of Wakanda, it will be crucial to the overall MCU. During an appearance on The Official Marvel Podcast, the Eyes of Wakanda series got a significant update from Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum, who works as the head of TV, streaming, and animation. Without revealing too many spoilers, Winderbaum teased that the show is not just about “the history of Wakanda,” but also has bigger insights into the MCU, sharing the following:

Eyes Of Wakanda, more than any other show we’re doing in animation, ties in the MCU… It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but it also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. So if you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat.

Bucky Barnes received a new identity six years ago, and one upcoming animated MCU series has the chance to explain exactly what his new moniker means.

Eyes Of Wakanda’s Main MCU Ties Could Make It The Franchise’s Most Important Animated Show

While time will tell exactly how the Eyes of Wakanda show will grow the MCU, this could lead the series to become the most crucial animated property for Marvel Studios. Even though there are a lot of great animated shows from Marvel Studios, Eyes of Wakanda seems to be one that will be incredibly relevant for viewers who have specifically followed Earth-616 since 2008. While the MCU has previously delved into Earth-616’s past, Eyes of Wakanda can do it on a whole new level.

With the lack of limitations that exist in animation, Eyes of Wakanda can more easily explore different parts of the MCU’s larger history. Marvel Studios can, through this show, allow the audience to get a better understanding of this franchise’s past that the movies haven’t had time to explore in previous phases. Depending on how many seasons Eyes of Wakanda runs for, the MCU can get fleshed out in a very unique way for potentially an extensive amount of time, highlighting key stories from the universe’s past.

The bigger question that remains unanswered about Eyes of Wakanda is what characters will be leading the series and what actors are part of the voice cast, and whether this itself may reveal what periods of time the show is seeking to explore. Hopefully, Eyes of Wakanda will be part of Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con presence in a few weeks, which may provide additional details about the show.
