Warning! This article contains spoilers for The Acolyte episode 6.

The Acolyte episode 6 provides the most material for Vernestra Rwoh thus far, including a neat link to the High Republic books concerning her dislike of hyperspace travel. After the climactic events of The Acolyte episode 5’s story, The Acolyte episode 6 was notably slower-paced. Sol was shown reckoning with the deaths of Jecki, Yord, and the other Jedi, while Osha was left exploring her new surroundings with the Sith warrior Qimir. By the time of The Acolyte episode 6’s ending, another character that received a larger focus was Vernestra Rwoh.

Vernestra was given details about Sol’s mission, from the deaths of the Jedi to the lack of communication between Coruscant and Sol’s ship. Worried for her friend and the other Jedi, Vernestra immediately sanctions a mission to Khofar. From introducing Star Wars’ lightsaber whip weapon to hinting that Vern knows more than she lets on, The Acolyte episode 6’s Easter eggs were aplenty. One other Easter egg concerning Vern links to hyperspace travel, with her remark that it makes her unsettled linking to her appearances in Star Wars’ High Republic books.

Vernestra’s Younger Years Were Plagued With Visions From The Force

The Acolyte takes place around 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, in the final days of the High Republic Era. Of all the characters in the show thus far, only Vernestra is old enough to have been part of Lucasfilm’s multimedia High Republic initiative that consists of several books, comics, and graphic novels telling stories of the Jedi Order’s conflict with space marauders known as the Nihil. These books detailed Vern’s early life, with her first appearance placing her at around 15 years old as one of the youngest Jedi prodigies of her generation.

In the earlier books concerning Vern, specifically A Test of Courage and Out of the Shadows, it is explained that she has trouble when traveling through hyperspace. Sometimes, when she is on a ship that jumps to light speed, Vern receives visions through the Force. These visions cause her body to shut down and essentially transport her to another place, showing her important information or locations. The Acolyte episode 6’s mention that Vern gets unsettled during hyperspace travel is a reference to this power that she had trouble controlling as a younger Jedi.

Vernestra Discussing Republic Senate In Acolyte Episode 6

Although The Acolyte episode 6’s reference to Vern’s hyperspace visions could simply be an Easter egg to the High Republic books, it could also link to the story at hand. A common theory stemming from The Acolyte episode 6 is that Vern knows more than she lets on. Vern often has knowing looks about the dark mystery at play, especially during the scenes on Khofar in The Acolyte episode 6. Furthermore, Vern has had two lines of dialog in The Acolyte thus far that mention tipping the scales of balance.

As the show moves into its final two episodes, it could be revealed that Vernestra knows something about The Acolyte‘s story due to her hyperspace visions. The audience has not been privy to Vern’s hyperspace travels thus far, meaning the Jedi Master could have had visions from the Force at some point. These visions could explain how she knows about someone trying to tip the scales, and even tie Vernestra Rwoh closer to The Acolyte‘s intriguing Sith villain, Qimir.
