Warning: Spoilers for That ’90s Show season 2!

That ’90s Show season 2 introduced a handful of new characters, including one very similar to Fez’s ex-girlfriend Caroline in That ’70s Show. First introduced in a 2001 episode as part of That ’70s Show season 3, Caroline took an interest in Fez before she eventually became his official girlfriend. While the character played by Allison Munn seemed like a great find for Fez, she quickly justified why she was also known as “Crazy Caroline.” Interestingly, a member of That ’90s Show‘s character list goes through something similar in season 2.

Upon dating Caroline for part of That ’70s Show season 3, Fez and the gang quickly realized she was truly unhinged. Not only was she dramatic, but she also showed violent rage at the flip of a switch at the thought of losing Fez. Considering Fez was friends with Jackie and Donna, Caroline never fully trusted him. After some unhealthy stalking and fake dates with Donna, Fez and Caroline broke up. Fez evidently moved on based on That ’90s Show season 1’s ending, but the show found a suitable replacement for Caroline in season 2.

Stacy Is That ’90s Show’s Replacement For Crazy Caroline

Stacy Has A Lot In Common With That ’70s Show’s Caroline

In That ’90s Show season 2, Leia’s relationship with Jay hits a road bump after learning how many girls he had professed his love to in the past. Among the girls is Stacy, a former fling of Jay’s who never got over him. Despite only appearing in two episodes of That ’90s Show so far, Eden Rose’s character is presented as an obsessive teen in absolute denial regarding his relationship with Jay. In fact, Stacy acts a lot like Caroline from That ’70s Show, to the point where it wouldn’t have been a surprise if they called her “Crazy Stacy.”

After encountering Stacy at a party, Jay couldn’t seem to convince her that they didn’t have a future as a couple. Instead, Jay was fully committed to Leia, even if it meant apologizing to previous girls he had been with. That endeavor led to Stacy reappearing at the Forman basement, still clinging to the hope that she should be with Jay. However, the young Kelso managed to redeem himself in Leia’s eyes, allowing them to be together through That ’90s Show season 2 part 1’s ending. Even with the revelation, that might not have been the end of Stacy in That ’90s Show.

Even though Caroline ended up coming to terms with Fez’s feelings in That ’70s show season 3, the character returned in season 8. Thankfully, Fez realized she hadn’t changed much and avoided any kind of dangerous future with her. With that said, it’s possible that Stacy returns in That ’90s Show season 2 part 2 or beyond, acting as a recurring problem for Jay and his relationship with Leia. Even if Jay didn’t reciprocate his feelings for Stacy as Fez did with Caroline, the sequel show could still turn the newer character into a Caroline-like character with a twist.

That ’90s Show season 2 part 2 releases October 24, 2024, on Netflix.
