Zac Efron’s new Netflix romantic comedy, A Family Affair, becomes the streamer’s number-one movie for the past week despite poor reviews. Directed by Richard LaGravenese, with a script written by Carrie Solomon, the rom-com follows an unexpected romance that leads to comic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her movie star boss as they navigate the complexities of love, sex, and identity. Efron, Nicole Kidman, and the Emmy-nominated Joey King lead cast of A Family Affair alongside Kathy Bates, Liza Koshy, Wes Jetton, and Sherry Cola.

Now, shortly after its release on June 28, Efron’s new Netflix rom-com has become the streamer’s number-one movie. For the week of June 24-30, A Family Affair was Netflix’s most-watched movie with 26.8 million views and 50.9 million hours viewed. Finishing closely behind in second place with 26.3 million views was Trigger Warning, Jessica Alba’s action thriller that finished first the previous week.

More to come…
