Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 is over, as the Spring 2024 anime season concludes alongside it. The isekai adventure showed Rudeus Greyrat going to university, reuniting with a childhood friend, getting married, and having crucial adventures that brought him together once more with long-lost family members. Not all of this season’s moments were happy, but at the end of season 2, Rudy’s life looks to take on an especially blissful tone.

After the events of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode #23, Rudy resolves to go home with his mother, Zenith, and his master Roxy, to his pregnant wife, Sylphiette, and tell his family about the tragic death of his father Paul. Additionally, after a heartbreaking sequence where Norn and Aisha experience intense grief over their father Paul’s loss, which aired on the worst possible day, Rudy must tell Sylphy about his desire to make Roxy his second wife.

The news doesn’t immediately go over well with Norn in particular, but Sylphiette accepts Roxy, to Roxy and Rudy’s surprise, citing, among other things, that Rudy’s perverted tendencies made her always believe he would find another partner. As Elinalise previously explained to Rudy in episode #23, he and Sylphy aren’t followers of the goddess Millis, meaning polygamy is a possibility.

This is certainly one of the most controversial storylines in Jobless Reincarnation, as it portrays Sylphiette as passively accepting the situation, and actually even encouraging Rudeus’ fantasies. Still, Roxy officially joins the family, waiting until Sylphy’s child is born before marrying Rudy. Finally, Rudy’s child, Lucie Greyrat, is born to his elated joy, after which he pays his grateful respects to Paul at his grave.

What Happened to Eris?

For anime-only viewers, one burning question during Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2’s ending concerns what happened to Eris, who was the first to break Rudy’s heart in season 1. As the credits roll in the season finale, there’s a momentary glimpse of Eris standing with her back turned to the viewers, indicating that she’ll soon return in Jobless Reincarnation season 3.
