Eddie Murphy is back as the character that made him a star in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F – and he’s got a great supporting cast backing him up, featuring both returning icons like Judge Reinhold and fresh faces like Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The long-awaited fourth installment in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise sees Detroit cop Axel Foley returning to Beverly Hills after his estranged daughter’s life is put in danger. He teams up with his daughter, her ex-boyfriend, and his old Beverly Hills P.D. cohorts to uncover a conspiracy.

It’s taken decades for a new Beverly Hills Cop movie to come together, but it’s finally here, thanks to the good people at Netflix. Murphy is back headlining the cast – it wouldn’t be Beverly Hills Cop without him – and he’s surrounded by great actors. Eddie Murphy was born in New York City in 1961. Like many legendary comedians, Murphy first broke big as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He joined the show in 1980 and remained one of its most popular cast members until he left in 1984.

Throughout the ‘80s, Murphy rose to the top of the A-list with acclaimed movie roles like Reggie Hammond in 48 Hrs., Billy Ray Valentine in Trading Places, and Prince Akeem in Coming to America. Murphy started out in standup comedy and released the blockbuster specials Raw and Delirious. He’s also known for his voice roles as Mushu in Mulan and Donkey in the Shrek franchise.

In Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Murphy reprises his role as street-smart cop Axel Foley. Axel is a police lieutenant from Detroit whose investigations into crimes against his loved ones often bring him to Beverly Hills. Murphy previously played Axel in every chapter of the original trilogy.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt As Detective Bobby Abbott

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was born in Los Angeles in 1981. He got his start as a child actor with the role of Tommy Solomon in the sci-fi sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. He gained further recognition with his supporting role as Cameron James in the teen romcom 10 Things I Hate About You.

Gordon-Levitt is known for his lead roles as Tom Hansen in (500) Days of Summer, Joe in Looper, and Adam Lerner in 50/50. He’s also played real-life people like Philippe Petit in The Walk, Edward Snowden in Snowden, and Robert Todd Lincoln in Lincoln. He collaborated with Christopher Nolan to play Arthur in Inception and John Blake (a.k.a. Robin) in The Dark Knight Rises.

Gordon-Levitt stars alongside Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F as Detective Bobby Abbott. Bobby is a new character who didn’t appear in any previous entry in the franchise. He’s the ex-boyfriend of Axel’s daughter Jane and an actual Beverly Hills cop who becomes Axel’s new partner.

Judge Reinhold was born in 1957 in Wilmington, Delaware. He first broke out in the role of Brad Hamilton in the iconic high school comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He had previously played a smaller role as Private Elmo Blum in Stripes.

Reinhold is known for playing Gerald Hopkins in Gremlins, Ken Kessler in Ruthless People, and Dr. Neil Miller in The Santa Clause franchise. He played a self-parodying version of himself as the host of a Judge Judy-type courtroom reality show in Arrested Development. He also played Aaron “the close talker” in Seinfeld season 5, episodes 18 and 19, “The Raincoats.”

Reinhold appears in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F as Lieutenant Billy Rosewood. Rosewood is one of Axel’s most trusted allies in the Beverly Hills Police Department. Reinhold previously played Rosewood in all three past installments of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise (as a detective in the first two and a sergeant in the third).

John Ashton As John Taggart

John Ashton was born in 1948 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He first broke big with his role in the original Beverly Hills Cop movie. This launched Ashton into a career as one of the most reliable character actors of the ‘80s.

Ashton went on to play other action-oriented roles like Marvin Dorfler in Midnight Run and Lt. Col. R.T. Nevitt in King Kong Lives. He also appeared in a couple of John Hughes productions, playing Ken in She’s Having a Baby and Cliff Nelson in Some Kind of Wonderful. His TV roles include Willie Joe Garr in Dallas, Charlie Battles in Hardball, and Ulysses S. Grant in the made-for-television film The Day Lincoln Was Shot.

In Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Ashton reprises his role as John Taggart. Now retired from the force, Taggart is Rosewood’s former partner at Beverly Hills P.D. and another one of Axel’s closest allies in the city. Ashton returns to the series after being absent from Beverly Hills Cop III.

Kevin Bacon was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1958. He made his film debut as Chip Diller in National Lampoon’s Animal House. He first rose to stardom with the role of Ren McCormack in the classic musical drama Footloose.

Bacon’s early film roles include Jack Burrell in the original Friday the 13th and Timothy Fenwick, Jr. in the dialogue-driven dramedy Diner. In the ‘90s, he began regularly playing lead roles like Val McKee in Tremors, David Labraccio in Flatliners, and Jack Swigert in Apollo 13. He also played supporting roles like Willie O’Keefe in JFK, Captain Jack Ross in A Few Good Men, and Wade in The River Wild. He went on to play Sean Devine in Mystic River, Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class, and Charles McGuire in Black Mass.

Bacon plays Captain Cade Grant in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. Grant is a police captain in the Beverly Hills Police Department. He’s a new character who didn’t appear in the previous Beverly Hills Cop films.

Taylour Paige as Jane Saunders: Axel’s estranged daughter, Beverly Hills-based defense attorney Jane Saunders, is played by Taylor Paige. Paige won an Independent Spirit Award for her performance in the title role of Zola. She also played Dussie Mae in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Paul Reiser as Jeffrey Friedman: Paul Reiser plays Axel’s former Detroit P.D. partner, Jeffrey Friedman, reprising his role for the first time since Beverly Hills Cop II. Reiser is a renowned comedian known for his TV roles as Michael Taylor in My Two Dads, Paul Buchman in Mad About You, and Dr. Sam Owens in Stranger Things. His film roles include Carter Burke in Aliens and Jim Neiman in Whiplash.

Bronson Pinchot as Serge: Bronson Pinchot appears in the Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F cast as Serge, the art gallery salesman-turned-arms dealer from the original trilogy. Pinchot has also played Barry in Risky Business, Elliot Blitzer in True Romance, and Duarto Feliz in The First Wives Club.
