My Hero Academia chapter #426 finally drew the Todoroki family drama to a close, capping off one of the manga’s best ongoing storylines. Revealing the fate of both Dabi and his father Endeavor, the chapter pulled no punches when it came to ending Endeavor’s redemption.

In contrast with the celebratory tone of My Hero Academia chapter #425, chapter #426 was a much more somber affair, as the Todoroki family visited what’s left of Dabi, perhaps now best referred to as Toya Todoroki. Barely hanging on to life, Toya can only speak for a few moments a day, and is far beyond saving; the only question is when he will die, not if. The family had plenty that they wanted to say to him, with Endeavor ready to hear anything his eldest son had to say. Here’s how and when fans can read the next chapter as soon as the official translation drops.

What Time Will My Hero Academia Chapter #427 Release?

New Chapters Release on Sundays

My Hero Academia releases its new chapters on Sundays. According to Shueisha’s MangaPlus website, fans can expect Chapter #427 to be released on July 7, 2024, at 8:00 AM Pacific Time (11:00 AM Eastern Time). The newest chapters can be read through either Viz’s Shonen Jump app, available in the US and certain other areas, or Shueisha’s Manga Plus app, available in most places outside Asia. The same translation will be released on both services simultaneously, so it’s really a matter of preference. Since the three most recent chapters of My Hero Academia are available to be read without a subscription on both services, fans don’t even need to subscribe to read the latest chapter when it drops.

What Was My Hero Academia Chapter #426 About?

Chapter #426 Saw The Todoroki Family’s Drama Finally End

Endeavor commits to visiting Toya every day for the rest of their lives.

The main focus of chapter #426 was the Todoroki family paying a visit to Dabi/Toya, who is being kept in a special tank that’s somehow keeping the former villain alive despite his seriously advanced state of decay. While each member of the family (save Natsuo) had something they wanted to say, the short time limit for his ability to speak kept most of them from getting to ask their questions. Shoto used his moment to ask a question he’d been pondering for some time: just what is Toya’s favorite food? Shoto’s attempt to reach out and get to know his brother as a person moved Toya quite a bit, even prompting an apology after they left.

It seems the Todoroki family will be living with the consequences of their actions in the war for a long time, as every one of them seems to have suffered some burn scars as a result of trying to save Toya. Much like the emotional scars they already carried, these will act as a permanent reminder of how much this family has suffered. Endeavor makes it clear that he will be retiring from hero work, now unable to even stand on his own. Natsuo still wants nothing to do with Endeavor, and seems to plan on leaving the Todoroki name behind. Shoto is in the best position, still able to pursue his own hero dreams.

My Hero Academia Chapter #427 Shows Spinner Has a Visitor

Another Villain Seems to Have Survived the Final War

Spinner awakens in a hospital bed to the sound of the door opening.

Chapter #426 ended with the reveal that Spinner was still alive, apparently resting in a hospital bed. In the last panel, Spinner hears a door opening and looks to the side to see who might be visiting him. While it’s impossible to say who’s at the door at this point, there are many possibilities. It could be a heteromorph, here to show some respect for what Spinner was allegedly trying to accomplish; it could also be the police, here to question Spinner. There’s even a small chance it’s another surviving member of the League of Villains, like Mr. Compress, who was already in jail during the final war.

No one knows exactly what chapter #427 will cover, but it’s likely to be more wrap-up. There are plenty of ongoing storylines that could be checked in on–what happened with Kurogiri in the end, for example? There’s also the mystery of the new character, introduced at the tail end of chapter #425, to deal with. Just who are they, and what are they up to? With only four more chapters on the way, there’s not a lot of time left to tie up loose ends, much less introduce anyone new. My Hero Academia‘s final ending is rapidly approaching, so hopefully the series can put a cap on some of these dangling plot threads before then.
