Though this exclusive The Mandalorian poster, created for the upcoming San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), is absolutely gorgeous, it accidentally highlights the biggest problem with the Star Wars TV show’s most recent installment. The Mandalorian season 3 was highly anticipated as the follow-up to The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2, but when it arrived nearly 3 years later, it unfortunately failed to meet the hype for a variety of reasons. The most notable of these was the lack of focus season 3 had on its protagonists, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu – something this beautiful poster highlights.

When Each Season Of The Mandalorian Came Out & When They Were Filmed

The Mandalorian premiered in 2019 and has since run for three seasons. Here’s when each season was released, and when were they all filmed.

Shared by Mando3Updates, this stunning poster was created by Joe Corroney for SDCC to commemorate The Mandalorian season 3, and it focuses on the Mand’alor with the title “Bo Katan Kryze – Between Two Worlds.” Bo-Katan is, evidently, the centerpiece as she wields the Darksaber at the heart of the composition. Along with her are a few other Mandalorians, including the Armorer, Din Djarin, Paz Vizsla, Koska Reeves, and Axe Woves. While Bo-Katan being a focus in her own artwork isn’t a problem, it does highlight what happened with The Mandalorian season 3 as a whole.

This poster represents The Mandalorian season 3 as a whole, but Din Djarin is far from being a fellow focal point, as even the Armorer has a bigger image than himself. It’s important to note that this is likely because the art is named after Bo-Katan and thus is meant to focus on her, but even then, Mando still takes a backseat to the unnamed Armorer. This clearly wasn’t the intention of the artist, who created a beautiful rendition of season 3’s story, but it does interestingly highlight this problem many viewers had with Din Djarin’s season 3 story.

The Mandalorian Movie Can Still Fix This Problem

The Mandalorian & Grogu Should Focus On Its Titular Pair Again

While The Mandalorian TV show’s fate is still up in the air, the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie could act as the vessel that delivers some much-needed justice for Din Djarin and Grogu after season 3. It was no mistake to make Bo-Katan the rightful ruler of Mandalore, and it did seem inevitable that a show titled The Mandalorian would have to go to Mandalore eventually. Unfortunately, season 3 took its title too generally, and it wandered away from the original spirit of the TV show: a lone gunfighter honing in on his skills to protect his child.

The Mandalorian & Grogu, however, now has the chance to put Din Djarin and Grogu back in the forefront. The beloved father-son duo will have plenty to attend to as under-the-table contractors for the New Republic, especially now that Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned to the Star Wars galaxy with the intent of re-establishing the Galactic Empire. So long as this movie doesn’t lose sight of its beloved characters, then there’s a big chance that The Mandalorian as a whole will be seen in a better light once again.

The Mandalorian is set after the Empire’s fall and before the First Order’s emergence in the ever-growing Star Wars universe. The series follows the travails of a lone gunfighter named Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. Acting as the first live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian has become incredibly popular on Disney+, partly due to Mando’s relationship with Grogu, which the internet dubbed “Baby Yoda” upon his introduction in season 1.
