The Cobra Kai season 6 trailer revealed that Mr. Miyagi buried some secrets before his death, but what could they be? The final season of the hit Netflix series promises to be the most exciting yet, with Johnny and Daniel uniting to prepare their students for a global karate tournament, the Sekai Taikai. Of course, going against the best of the best will require the teens of Cobra Kai to pull out their very best skills, and this is likely where Miyagi’s secrets will come in. Still, with old rivalries being part of the overarching themes of That Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, these secrets may go far deeper than technique.

The first part of Cobra Kai season 6, which will be released on Netflix on July 18, 2024, looks as if it will pick up right where season 5 left off—with Terry Silver being arrested and Daniel and Johnny’s dojos left the only contenders in the Valley. The trailer sees both their students wearing the same white gi, and the iconic Karate Kid rival duo are again at each other’s throats about the right way to train their students. Then, Daniel is shown discovering a secret trap door on the floor of Mr. Miyagi’s house, unearthing a box that he says contains some buried secrets. What kinds of secrets is anyone’s guess.

Cobra Kai has the perfect mix of classic Karate Kid legends and all-new characters. Here’s everyone you need to know in the hit Netflix series.

Mr. Miyagi May Have More Secret Miyagi-Do Techniques

Mr. Miyagi Could Have Much More To Teach Daniel-San Yet

The most obvious answer to the types of secrets Mr. Miyagi would have hidden in his house would be Miyagi-Do techniques, similar to the one Daniel learned from Chozen when he traveled to Japan in Cobra Kai season 3. In that case, the secret technique was a rare offensive skill, which Miyagi-Do practicers could use when defensive moves would no longer cut it. With Daniel preparing his students for the Sekai Taikai, it seems likely that Mr. Miyagi’s buried secrets would include other similar skills. However, given the themes of Karate Kai, this hidden box could contain more than just this.

Mr. Miyagi May Have A Hidden Connection To Kim Sun-Yung

A Connection Between Mr. Miyagi & Kim Sun-Yung Would Play On Karate Kid’s Overarching Themes

Another big reveal of the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer is that Kim Da-Eun, who had joined Cobra Kai as a sensei under Terry Silver, seems to have joined up with another dojo alongside John Kreese. Though little is revealed about this dojo, it is likely related to the teaching of Kim Sun-Yung, Kim Da-Eun’s grandfather and the original sensei to Kreese and Silver during their military days. There is no indication in Karate Kid lore that Mr. Miyagi knew Kim Sun-Yung personally, though he seemed to have heard of the brutal master. Still, Miyagi’s buried secrets could change everything.

The overarching theme of the Karate Kid franchise revolves around rivalries. While this has predominantly involved Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai, it makes sense that the final season of Cobra Kai would take things back even further. Mr. Miyagi’s buried secrets could reveal an ancient rivalry between his own martial arts style and Kim Sun-Yung’s, revealing that the conflict between Daniel and Johnny had begun decades (or even centuries) before they were even born. Of course, we can only speculate at this point in the game, but it would be a meaningful way to end Cobra Kai.
