Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Interview with the Vampire season 2 finale.

Jacob Anderson weighs in on Louis’ ending in Interview with the Vampire season 2, addressing whether he and Lestat can become immortal companions once more. In AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s iconic vampire novels, Anderson portrays Louis de Pointe du Lac, who is charmed and transformed by the French vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid). After the pair had a bloody and violent parting in Interview with the Vampire season 1, Louis and Lestat were reunited for a tragic trial in Paris that led to a heartbreaking loss.

As Interview with the Vampire season 2 saw Louis and Lestat finally reunite and address their relationship, Anderson weighed in on whether the two can find love again in the future in an interview with Screen Rant. The star isn’t certain that they are ready to pick up their relationship despite reconciling after the heartbreak and tragedy they faced together. Anderson stated that not only did the season choose a good point to leave their relationship, but emphasized that Louis is more comfortable being independent for now, having found peace with himself. Check out Anderson’s response below:

Jacob Anderson: I don’t know. I really don’t. I feel really comfortable with where this season ends; where Interview with the Vampire ends at least. That moment between them is about their shared grief; acknowledging it and finding some reconciliation in the love that they have for each other. A lot of that love was based on tragedy and darkness, so this is now a really lovely place for them to be.

Also, I think Louis is accepting that Vampirism is a gift. That’s one of the final steps and part of his journey to becoming the Vampire Louis, and proudly so. But I think it’s as Louis says, “I’m companion enough for myself.” That’s where he’s at by the end of the season. I don’t think he’s looking for a man. He’s not looking to catch a match. He’s thinking about things and meditating.

What’s Next For Louis In Interview With The Vampire Season 3?

Season 3 Will Adapt The Vampire Lestat

With Louis’ interview coming to an end, and both he and his interviewer Daniel (Eric Bogosian) free of Armand’s (Assad Zaman) influence, Interview with the Vampire season 2 resolves many of the arcs that the series had in place since its first episode. Louis and Daniel have pieced together the truth behind the former’s murky past, allowing Louis to finally confront everything that led him to that point and to mend his relationship with Lestat. However, his maker and beloved’s story has only just begun, as Lestat is set to take center stage.

The show has only just shown the true Lestat, free of the perspectives Louis and Armand had of him, and Interview with the Vampire season 3 is set to explore just how he responds to who Daniel’s book paints him to be. While seasons 1 and 2 have already addressed the contradicting tales that Louis gave between his two interviews, season 3 will adapt the events of The Vampire Lestat, where Lestat sets out to tell his version of events. As such, Louis may take on a supporting role as the series turns to the second novel.

With Lestat as the new lead of Interview with the Vampire, it is clear that both the creatives and Anderson set out to give Louis a conclusion to his two-season arc. While deviating from how the novel ends, Louis is left in a healthier place, now given the chance to heal after a century of pain, and accepts his undead life as it is. While Rice’s later novels explore Louis’ story beyond the interview, Interview with the Vampire season 2 leaves Louis in a perfect place to hand over the lead role to Lestat.
