Ahead of his live-action debut in DC Studios’ upcoming Superman reboot, Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific has been imagined in dark new DC Universe fan art. Edi Gathegi’s casting as Michael Holt’s Mister Terrific was announced in July 2023, alongside several other unexpected characters who will appear alongside David Corenswet’s Clark Kent in James Gunn’s Superman movie. While a version of the DC Comics hero previously appeared in Arrow, Superman will mark Mister Terrific’s official live-action debut, and new set photos have raised excitement for his first DCU appearance.

Photos from the set of Superman shared on June 24 by clevelanddotcom revealed a first look at Edi Gathegi’s comic-accurate Mister Terrific costume. This costume has since been used in brilliant fan art shared by bosslogic, which also gifts the hero his most powerful weapons from DC Comics, his T-Spheres.

Other costumes, including those of Clark Kent’s Superman, Lois Lane, Cat Grant, Jimmy Olsen, and Lex Luthor, have also been seen in new set photos, making the DCU’s Superman movie even more highly-anticipated.

Mister Terrific In Superman Could Be The Start Of The DCU’s Premiere Superhero Team

The casting of DC characters such as Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, and Metamorpho in the DCU’s Superman reboot has raised suspicions that the project will be debuting the franchise’s first superhero team. James Gunn’s announcement of the DC Universe reboot in January 2023 neglected to reveal the inclusion of the Justice League, but all four of these heroes, along with Superman himself, have all been featured in the team in DC Comics. This means the Justice League could indeed appear in the DCU very soon.

Superman: Legacy’s Edi Gathegi Shows Off Impressive Superhero Physique In New Workout Images As Filming Begins

Ahead of Superman: Legacy’s filming start in mid-March, Mister Terrific actor Edi Gathegi’s trainer has shared a first look at his superhero physique.

In DC Comics, Mister Terrific was also featured as the chairperson of the Justice Society of America back in 2001. It’s possible that 2025’s Superman could debut a new version of the Justice Society, rather than the Justice League, reinvented after a version of the team appeared in 2022’s Black Adam. With so many heroes being introduced in Superman’s strong DCU cast, it stands to reason that James Gunn could be laying the foundations for a powerful superhero team to make its way into the rebooted franchise, though it remains to be seen which Justice team debuts first.

While Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific could debut as a member of a superhero team, it’s also possible that Superman will focus on him as a lone warrior, prior to meeting Superman and being recruited into a powerful group. Michael Holt is an incredibly powerful hero separate to his various teams, with his supreme intelligence, aptitude for picking up new skills, technological genius, and advanced equipment making his solo adventures very exciting, too. Even so, it would be great to see the DCU’s first superhero team appear in Superman, but only time will tell.
